Donovan E the second rounder is a case in point . I saw on a run play I don’t even think it was an OL it may have been a receiver or TE they pulled out and Donovan E got absolutely road graded . Flattened . It was horrible as the play resulted in chunk yardage since the edge was lost .

He’s got a total of 2 sacks his rookie year . I hope he hits the NFL weight room off season comes back more equipped to seal the edge and play with more violence next season .

The Cowboys roster is perennially overrated, for 20+ years, the JJ promotion machine at its finest. And the pundits often follow along. Lord knows, we fans do too.

Roster was really good in 2005-2011. They underachieved. I think Wade could have won if Garrett wasn't forced on him.

Good in 2014-2019. Defense was a liability. Garrett-Ryan-Kiffin really hurt the 2011 and 2013 teams. 2011 team could've won it all w better coaching. That team was actually loaded, and that was before Laurent Robinson fell into our lap. 2013 TEAM should've won at least 10. Then we hired Scott Linehan. The reason why we made the playoffs in 2014-16-18. No playoffs when he left.

2021-23. Dak choking and defense with too many spares at spots in the secondary and only one decent LB

the talent is always overrated on this team. People think Dak is always a top 3 QB, Lamb and Pickens are Megatron and Larry Fitzgerald, Q Williams os Aaron Donald, deron bland/diggs is prime Revis, etc.

alot is fan optimism and club hype. the other is the exposure when someone has 1-2 great games it is talked about for seasons

the team has been on decline for a while if you look at their drafts - taco, mazi, etc. etc. the only one that hit was Parsons.

the last part is that the culture breeds apathy. HOF player become great (Parsons, aubrey) great players become good (Dak) and so on.

its so bad you have radio hosts saying the cowboys will win the division by "games" at 6-6-1 with opponents playing Washington 2x and the raiders.

When we constantly lose to teams with bad records, and teams we should do better against. Yes it's the NFL and anything can happen, but goodness our players play beneath the level of our opponent in these losses! The other teams players clearly want it more than we do, and they're hungrier than our players.

With that said, is it fair to say that we have good players on this team? Coaching/ownership is surely a HUGE factor, but these players have to have the will to be better and to want more! At this moment, I can't call any player on this team good, solid at best. When the game is on the line, where are these GOOD players?? To some they're great, but i'm not seeing it! Please give your thoughts!

Will you be excited next preseason? Will you fall for the annual okie doke next season? Will you believe in the next coaching staff full of yes men, retreads, and nepo babies next year? Or will you have a more realistic vision of what you know is to come?

Quinnen Williams is an elite DT. Osa and Clark are good players to have on the team

Dak Prescott is one of the best passers in the league.

Lamb and Pickens are as dynamic as any receiver pair in the league.

The interior offensive line of Smith, Beebe, and Booker is strong, young, and will only improve.

Ferguson, Spann-Ford, and Schoonmaker is a decent TE room.

EZ looks like a keeper at end, Clowney is above average, Houston can get after it in the pass game, and Fowler is old but still brings heat from time to time.

Overshown is a keeper at LB but we need him healthy. Marist and James have flashed but there's little consistency. Murray is awful, and I still have no idea what Wilson is.

Hooker and Wilson are average to below average. I wouldn't mind keeping both around, but at least one of those spots needs a big upgrade.

Corners have been bad this season. Bland is the best of the bunch but that's not saying much. Revel has flashed and I expect him to improve week-to-week but it's too little, too late. Steward and Bridges might be decent depth pieces at some point but neither should be playing meaningful snaps right now. If only we had better options available...

OTs can't pass block. Guyton did alright but I was hoping for more. Steele has been awful. Thomas is getting beat up every week. There's potential, but he needs a year or two to refine his game. Adenji looked terrible in limited snaps.

Yes, we do have some really great players, but critical weaknesses have derailed this season. The DC refusing to adapt his scheme didn't help either. Still, there's a strong foundation to build on. Hire a new DC. Bring back a few key players. Target MLB, S, and maybe CB through FA. Draft a MLB and either CB or OT in the first and we could be looking at a vastly improved team.

The last 2 games Shotty and Eberflus( of course) got out coached!!!
Minnesota’s 7-8 man fronts on defense had Dak and the lineman confused too often. They forced us to attempt FG’s while they were scoring TD’s.
Coaching Matters a lot! Minnesota flat out coached us!!

I want Flores as our next DC!!!!!!!!

We just don’t have good depth or solid starters in every position. I don’t think any of our LBers would star elsewhere, for example.

Good teams have two or three top level players on both sides of the ball.

We can probably claim that on offense.

We have one on defense.

Add two all-pros to the defense and see different results

The Cowboys are right where they have been most of the time Jerry Jones has been in charge of putting the roster and coaching staff together. They are mediocre. They have some really good player. They have a few all pro candidates. They have their share of pro bowl types. They have questionable level coaching. They are what they are and have been for the past 30 years. They have enough talent to be really good with a few critical additional pieces and championship level coaching staff. The real lack of talent is in the front office personnel. The FO just does not know how to complete the deal................
