We gonna ignore Jaylon Smith today?

Jaylon Smith had a pretty good game today. I think some people are gonna have to come down from the ledge. Including myself.

Yup. He's much better off as a part time player. I want the Cowboys to use him as a situational pass rusher more often, too.

By 2018 his knee should be 100 percent and maybe he'll be the player he was at Notre Dame again. He seems to be getting better already.

I have come the conclusion that those that hate on Jaylon do it because he is so obviously a fine young man that they know is so much a better person then they are themselves that they must hate him or commit suicide.

Nah, he was average and missed his INT chance. It was surprising to see one of our LBers jump a route and almost make a play though... very Kuechly-esque.

He was VERY average from the plays I saw. He just needs to get healthier and study more. He has a big problem attacking the ball carrier off of blocks. I think it is 50% physical and 50% mental. He is NOT an amazing player at this point. It is what it is...

Ehhhhh.

I am a big Smith fan but he had his issues again today. A couple of big plays early were when he was on the field. I think he just needs to continue to get limited reps and hopefully the game slows down for him. That near interception was a snap shot of the athleticism he showed at ND. Hopefully he continues to get better.

I don't see what you mean. Happy to be proven wrong but in the one good drive they had, it was Sean Lee out of the game and Jaylon backpedaling into 13 yard gains.

You’re right.

But what players are considered amazing after their 7th pro start in two seasons?

We need to sign Hitchens and draft a LB. no way I'm going to trust Smith's knee to fully heal ever.

People are to quick to judge a guy that had his knee completely destroyed and missed an entire year of football.

Props to him today, he looked great.

It's his 'rookie' year.

If we'd listened to all the expert GM's on the board, after 3 seasons of 'nothing' we should have cut DLaw in camp this year.

I love watching people rag on Taco and Jaylon or any other rookie after a few games & going "Nah he ain't ever getting any better. Cut this scrub now."

We knew coming in this season playing 'redshirts' like Jaylon & rookies like Woods & Lewis was gonna cause some pain. They'll get better.

It is what it is.

It's a deep hole he dug for himself. He's got some climbing to do still.

I will say the defense as a whole is getting better by the week. Some of that may be related to Jaylon being reeled in a bit.

He is getting better but at this point I am not really seeing an explosive player, I put that down to his nerve not being fully regenerated yet and still having to wear the brace. Next year hopefully he can ditch the brace and then we can all see the player that we believe we have.

We win, "Jaylon looked good".

We lose, "Jaylon sucks."

He made a nice INT. Hopefully he's better next year bc he's been an absolute liability at times.

Jaylon isn't playing well. But I have some degree of belief that he will eventually be elite. Probably in his contract year. That's just our luck.

Jaylon has shown glimpses that he will eventually be or at least can be the dominant player we hoped we were drafting.
