We got nothing for Mazi?

I don’t understand his inclusion in the trade. Did he really cost that much off the cap? He’s on a rookie contract. Why include him? Just cut him.
Cutting a 1st round pick is a bad look, makes your scouting department look incompetent.

So, you pitch him in on a trade and you save face.

The Jets will cut him in the offseason and he will end up in the CFL. He’s not a nfl player
Not sure he a CFL player but he will get more shots in the nfl. He’s an athletic freak and someone will think they can make a football player out of him

So he was included in this trade with the jets. What a horrid waste of a pick. Mcclay is over rated is all I have to say. We needed to get atleast a 4th round pick back in return. Jerry is a horrible deal maker
Mazi wasn't going to make it here. We got a good player. But for how many years? Not sure what Jerry is thinking trading now. He probably could have paid less . . . Had he actually waited.

What is the hurry with Williams? This season is already over..

That’s hilarious. You don’t think Jerry spent the whole year trying to unload Mazi. He is awful; he has no positive film; he is washed in the NFL. What we got from the Jets is they took him off our hands and we save 3 million dollars on next year’s cap. We unloaded him and his salary.

You thought Mazi should bring a 4th round pick back? Do you think other teams don’t own TVs?
Mazi is buy one/get one free part of the deal. He's a throw in. Spot on, teams have seen Mazi be a healthy scratch and a healthy scratch on the field too.

I get that. But where is the accountability for the wasted pics. Mazi, taco, lve. All busts. Yes lve was a bust. Had a broken neck and Jerry still drafted him. Guyton maybe and up being a bust as well
You're being foolish to claim LVE was a bust.

A roster spot.

Cut him and you still pay him. Trade him, and you save 3 million on the cap because NY eats his salary, which they can afford after dumping the salaries of Williams and Sauce.

Pretty sure the original trade was a 1st and 3rd for Q, but then we made them take Mazi and they upped the 3rd to a 2nd.
I don't get why you trade a first and a second. I guess we still have our two firsts this year.

Maybe they just tag Pickens and then again to recoup the pick later.

Those firsts in 26' and 27' could be used for a very deep defensive draft.

A very idiotic post

who cares? the jets wanted him, why not give him to them?
Like Dallas a lot of teams will take a flyer on a busted 1st round pick. Dallas probably was not the only team thinking of drafting him in the 1st. This will probably be make or break for Mazi.

I have mixed feelings about it. We need a stud DT, and we’ve shown we’re completely incapable of drafting one. So it’s good that we picked up Q who is probably top 5ish and relatively young.

But I like my draft capital also

Mazi honestly strikes me as a guy who views football as a means to make some cash. He has no real passion or drive for it. Just a body who did enough in college to get a decent payday as a #1 pick. Will probably be out of the league in 4 - 5 years.
He'll get cut by the Jets, make it onto another teams practice squad and call it a day from there. Hes an even worse pick than Taco. But at least we didn't pass on Watt to get him.

The Cowboys needed a roster spot for Quinnen Williams and probably just asked the Jets to take him off their hands instead of cutting him.

Mazi was being shopped for days according to reports and all the Cowboys received were crickets.

Exactly, and we got rid of a bust. Tolbert and Diggs should be next.

His contract was guaranteed for this year and next season.

The trade moves the guaranteed money to the Jets cap.

AT LEAST a 4th?

Good one. They wouldn't have found anybody willing to trade a compensatory 7th for him. That dude should have been cut long ago. And would have been once this trade was finalized. Him being included in the deal was just the team giving him a face saving out. He'll be cut shortly in NY.

Oh, and the Jets absorb his cap hit which we would have after cutting him. Consider them agreeing to take him a win.

:muttley:
.
I saw nothing from Mazi the first few times I watched him and we got nothing for him in a trade. It’s that old addition-by-subtraction.
