She was a adorable 14 yr old Cocker Spaniel.
We had to let her go early this morning and I held her until the very end.

Thank you for the countless wonderful memories that you've provided us over the last 10 years. You were given countless trips to the lake/dog park/car rides, sleeping on beds/couches as well as a endless supply of love and attention.
I cant help but think we got the better of the deal.........

I'm sorry to hear of this.

Been in the same position several times... lots of tears shed.

We like them for their familiarity, we love them for their uniqueness.

Sorry to hear the sad news. I went thru the same thing 2 years ago when my Sheltie passed. Held him in my arms until the very end. What cml said is completely true about pets being family members. After being a major part of our life for 12 years it still seems weird to walk into the house and not have him around.

As I've gotten older and been through this situation several times, I've come to realize so much of the satisfaction of the relationship is due to the amount of joy we give them.

Sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is. Can't imagine life without a pet though. I guess it is the trade off for the joy they bring us.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Our spaniel/dalmation mix (the one in my pic) is now 16 and just thinking about losing her relatively soon is painful.

I'm glad you were with her at the end. You're right, they're such great companions through thick and thin,, about all we can do is be grateful that they came our way.

Tough time. I usually end up going to the pound and picking another dog that needs a home. It's a win win for both parties.

Sorry for your loss. One of the saddest moments of my life was when my first dog had to be put down. We adopted him as a puppy when I was 6 years old I grew up with him. He lived 17 years and have countless home movies of him playing in the back yard. We did everything with him took him to the river and on picnics. Hard losing a pet you had from the time you started first grade to the time you graduated from college.

Thank you, the last stray we found in a torrential rainstorm about 6 months ago, she is around a 6 month to a year old terrier mix who is full of love as well as piss and vinegar.

Love it. Piss and vinegar. lol. Sounds like my Ruby girl. My Countess Rubetta, her full name, our Halloween Kitty. She is a pint size pack of dynamite, who weighs only 6 lbs (she has gained a pound in her old age, lol). Tonight is actually her birthday! She turned 10 years old today. We found her in our driveway, nine years ago, scamming for bugs under our flood light. She had a huge gash in her neck and was slowly dying. Poor baby. We rescued her, and had her neck fixed, saving her life. The doctors determined she was about a year old at the time. And she has been our little "wicked" angel ever since. lol. She is a midget, very tiny, but scrappy as hell, and we love her big time. :) It's funny, when we first found her, she didn't respond to English at all. I got the idea to speak to her in Spanish, and she got so excited! So I figure she came from a Spanish speaking household. She did eventually learn English, and now years later, she doesn't really respond to Spanish anymore, which is sad for me, because I love to speak Spanish. lol

ETA: Although she does love Selena's music, which is wonderful for me, because Selena is one of my favorite singers still.
