We lost for one simple reason...

As bad as that interception was, we didn't have to give up another deep bomb on the very next play or leave a WR wide open at the goal line for 6 a few plays later.

And I guarantee you, if we would have had a safety 25 yards deep, Manning wouldn't have made that throw.

Yes. Dallas had made a lot of mistakes before this play, but at this point we were in control of the game.

It's not about choking, or talent, or anything else everyone is saying. This team had 3 turnovers against one of the best teams in the NFC, and they were still ahead by 4 and in control of the game by the end of the 3rd quarter. This is about making a dumb decision.

Honestly, does anybody think we would have lost the game if Garret had kept running the ball in this drive? Did we have any problems running the ball and scoring prior to this?

They handed the Giants this game on a silver platter.

I was going to start a thread regarding the same topic.
I didn't believe we were going to lose til that play. It was a killer just like the two he chucked up against Bal.

Funny. Everyone knows Romo is a gunslinger, why not call plays that will keep him out of trouble? The answer is cause Garrett is a gunslinger as well, he cant resist taking shots regardless of the fact that the Giants were loading up on the pass all night. Garrett needs to stay patient and take what the defenses are giving him.

Thats just about word for word on what I was going to post thank you for beating me to it

Garrett needs to slow down a little and stop trying to force the big pass all the time let the run work for you we were eating up yards on the ground and we kept throwing deep not many slants or short routes

We had the lead just play it tight go for the "safe" passes and keep it on the ground and we would have been fine but with Garrett and Romo we have a serious gunslinger mentality to put the brakes on and play some smart time management ball

We have good RB's all 3 of them can get the job done and were and we have 2 good TE's one excellent TE and a damn good up and coming TE we have the perfect roster for playing smart football yet we keep trying to slam home a big play in the air it truely baffles me

That game was ours to win we just got cute with some plays and gave it away :(

That play jumps out at me over and over again. Watching the replay of that play, every WR was going down field, Romo had no check down. He still should of thrown it away but it is perplexing given his inability to do that why the Garrett would call that play to begin with. If you know you have a gunslinger, you dont call plays that will put him in bad situations at key points of the game.

Romo deserves most of the blame but I think Garrett needs to share in some of it, he is as much of a gunslinger as Romo is. Bad combo, Wade needs to keep him in check, but we all know that isnt going to happen.

I also dont understand why the RBs are not more involved in the passing game.

Since you recorded the game.On that play did Romo have room to run instead of that airball that he threw.

As far as blame,I put this play all on Romo. You have to know where you are at in a game.At that point of the game you can't air mail that throw. You can throw it away, run with it or take a timeout if the play doesn't match up with what the defense is showing. You can do anything but turn the ball over at that juncture of the game.Romo has a propensity to have games like this, and until he learns to manage the game in it's entirety on a regular basis he will be what he is.

As far as Garrett, hopefully he will learn to lean on the run after this crap last night.Especially when your late in a game and having success running the ball, and especially now that it seems you can't depend on Romo to make a correct read on a consistant basis.

The playcall was fine. I'm sure there were secondary reads that presented a much safer throw.

or the reads led to throwing it deep--and sometimes the view is just blocked and you don't see the guy

but the play calling was bad at times--NY was in a prevent all night

My wife quietly snuck out of the room.

Hey SP, my wife left the room at one point last night after a bone head play too, ... but when she leaves, she is neither quiet nor sneaking.:laugh2:

She is as big a fan as me or my two boys, .. and she is as hard on the Cowboys as we are when they screw it up.

After that she watched upstairs and I watched down in the living room. I could hear her "comments" throughout the rest of the game.

She is a jewel! :laugh2:

Did you all notice on the series after the INT that the Giants came back with almost the same identical play down the field for big yards. It was almost a in your face moment for Romo, Garrett and all the offense. Bet Manning was thinking that's how it's done Tony.

Althought right before that happened, I told my wife "All we have to do here is not turn the ball over. Run the ball a bit, Romo not be a hero, just be smart and if that means punting then so be it."

She said "They're only up by 4, they've got to score."

"That should be third or fourth on the priority list right now. Run the clock, don't turn it over, score."
SP for OC! When can you start?

Immediately. Although I can't promise that I would have thought up the Choice/Barber backfield, Jones motion in, trap to Barber play.

It's a shame so much went wrong last night, because so much went right.

Here I was thinking that Dallas lost because they scored less points then the opposing team.

When the hell was the change????

From losing Jimmy Johnson to rehiring Lacewell and Campo, from cutting Pro Bowl WRs to signing Anthony Millers.

Yes from Quincy Carter to Bobby Carpenter and from Chan Gaily to a demoralized Bill Parcels.

Only one thing remains the same Jerry Jones...well that and losing.

As Romo said he did not see the safety since he was hidden behind the CB but also did not account for him. Throwing the ball on that play was not stupid throwing to that particular WR was. On almost every passing play a QB has more than 1 option Romo should have looked elsewhere or threw it way. However I'm not going to fault the OC for trying to run a balanced game plan I expect the players to execute properly

We lost momentum with that play BUT gained it back late in the 4th quarter. The one simple reason why we lost that game was THE DEFENSE COULDN'T GET A STOP. They get them to go 4 & out, GAME OVER. They didn't, WE LOST.

If you can't trust a QB that YOU claim is a FRANCHISE GUY to take care of the football, so that you could call a pass play in a tight game, even with the running game working, then you have a bigger problem than play calling. He called a pass. There are some on here who say we have a TOP 5 QB. Ok, then can't we trust him? If it isn't there, can't we trust him to make a good decision? If not, if you have to treat him like a bus driver, then lets get rid of the imagination that we have a top 5 guy.

I was begging the tv to please keep running! They can't stop it. I knew when there was 2:00 to go w/ Manning it was a loss. I'm sorry I'm a realist and don't rely on false hope. I was willing to bet the house. 30th on defense? Holy cow!

Mt wife is learning when I yell at the tv my son wants to argue w/ me but she says just let him yell at the tv if he wants to. LOL:bang2:
