We may have a formula to slow Aaron Rogers

It's all going to depend on what kind of game Zeke has. The Packers and Rodgers are clearly playing better than they were when we played them in week 5 and they're going to do everything they can to stop Zeke and put the game on Dak. Dez has been up and down this season and his role is different with Dak at QB. He's got to get open for Dak because he spreads the ball around and throws to the open receiver. We may have to take some chances with Dez on Sunday because we're going to have to put up some points. He has put up 8 TDs this season.

Dak and Dez have a better chemistry as of late. Dak going deep often to him. Think the deep ball is something Dak is getting more comfortable with.

Things change in the playoffs of course. They will put 8 men up there and dare Dak to beat them. That's up to Dak, really.

Guess that's why we watch the games. But we will definitely see what Dak's made of, real quick.

I hope Dak is up to the task. I think Dak is up to the task. But if he is sucking we do t wait until the game is out of reach to put in Romo if he is having a bad game.

I would agree that we would need to take some chances with high-risk Dez plays if we were playing New York.

But against Green Bay we can likely play a more percentage oriented style--as long as we are getting 5-6 yards per carry w/Zeke and completing 65-70% of short, mid-range passes.

Walk me through it bro. How does one team get two possessions in a row?

Depends on alot of things, turnovers, 3 and outs, special team plays, whatever. Point I was only making was TOP means something, especially if your a team that doesn't turn the ball over, btw Dak's best attribute. Also number of possessions is different than offensive plays run by the offense.

Is this your new story now that your "2007" Gints are done? You don't think GB was trying to stop Zeke when we played them earlier? Go watch the game again.

They tried but couldn't and Dak killed them without Dez. Having Dez will only help the other WRs get single coverage. Now they can't double Witt and Bease easily.

No it doesn't depend on any of those things.

If you fumble the ball you blew a possession...but you still had one. A three-and-out is also a possession just a bad one. Both teams get the same number of possessions.

Zeke could carry the ball 100 times...it might reduce the number of possessions in the game, but it would reduce the number of possessions for both teams. TOP has some value but it is over-rated and wildly misunderstood.

Let me give you something to think about. Without Nelson here are the packers receivers:

Adams =will be shadowed by Carr
Cobb=will be taken by scandrick
Allison =brown /Claiborne
Cook=jones

if we rush 3 and drop 8 I don't think GB has any real game breakers there. When Rodgers rolls out or scrambles we need that one spy. I trust durant for the job and leave Lee in coverage. Combine that with no running game for GB and I don't see as big a threat as most of you. They might get a couple decent drives. I do not see them scoring more than 24 points.

Now let's look at our offense...
Dez= will draw Damarius Randell who often gets burned
Williams=will draw Gunter who is an UDFA
Beasley= will draw Rollins whose been Horrible good luck with that.

Now add that in with having to stop zeke with two very average MLB's in Ryan and Martinez . I didn't even mention Witten yet. They'll prabobaly have to bring a safety down and play single high. .Most are so infatuated with the QB. That is literally the only position GB is better at. Well, I say it ain't going to happen.

Ok cool, bout to pass out sleep but I will say this, if zeke had it 100 times then their possessions will decrease cause at that point the D is ready to go home with their woman. I understand quick strikes with Atlanta, 2000 Rams, even GB tonight, but beating up their D with our OL and Zeke is a whole different proposition.

Agreed. But, lengthy drives can really cool off a hot hand. An 8 minute drive ending in 7 points is a great momentum killer.

On offense if we play our game I think we'll move the ball well. That's not the focus of my post.

In recent weeks the Packers have scored 38 on on New York, 38 on Seattle, 38 on Minnesota. That's 3 top defenses. I think it's good to look at how to approach defensing them little differently.

Jordy's departure didn't slow them much at all today. They have weapons. In game 1 Claiborne was healthy and played very well. It's unlikely we'll get much or anything from him. I think our secondary is capable but will need a little help from the pass rush.
Those games was in GB though

If one team scores on a precision 12 play drive...and the opponent scores turns around and scores in 3 plays...I'm not sure who is more demoralized.

The point is to squeeze possessions into as much juice as you can--maximum points....and to get stops. There is a game called keep-away but it isn't football. Ultimately Rogers will get plenty of chances and we will have to man up.

We will have Dez for this game, unlike last game, it will only help our time of possession. And Zeke still had 157 yds with no Dez for them to worry about.
Some fans love giving the other team all the credit in the world while giving their own none. Apparently only the Packers have made any improvements from that first game lol.

Hey...great post. And extra points for addressing my point in the OP. If we just rush 3 down linemen we can double their two best receivers...or alternatively feature a spy...maybe blitz a safety or corner. You can pressure their offense with a lot more variation and uncertainty.

And again...we can bring the type of quicker athlete who can close the deal on rogers...which big guys struggle to do.

They've had more dramatic change than we have. Rogers came into the first game completing a career worst 56%. In the past 6 weeks he's been closer to 70%. Mid-season they made a change to convert Montgomery to running back and that really worked out well for them. Jordy finally got healthy (though he's not now!).

I don't know which fans you are talking about that withholding credit from their own team. As for my posts in recent months...I've talked about Dak as MVP, started threads in praise of Lee and Marinelli, defended Brown and Carr from critics, etc. etc.

David Irving got 1 sack and forced 3 fumbles on 19 total snaps vs GB in week 6.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Irving plays more than 19 snaps this Sunday.

Good point. He's really come on. He'll have a tough chore this week as the Packer line is outstanding in pass protection.

Yup.

His ability in the 32 dime defense could be the difference in this game.
