We may have a formula to slow Aaron Rogers

A team can gain consecutive possessions through an onside kick or a muffed punt/kickoff (the receiving team in that case never has possession). Those are the only cases I can come up with.

Exactly. Those are the only ways and they are quite uncommon.

All the people saying "give it to Zeke 50 times..." aren't tracking the simple logic that long sustained drives do nothing in terms of giving the Cowboys more possessions than the Packers. Both teams will get an even number of cracks at it.

The 2014 Cowboy-Packer playoff game featured both teams going on a number of long sustained drives. The game was shortened in the sense that their were not many clock stoppages. Each possession became even more important in terms of getting 7 points.

In the 2014 playoff game Dallas won the time-of-possession. And lost the game. Focusing on T.O.P. is misguided.

Marinelli's top focus is to limit big plays. I think that is a good strategy against GB because GB has to overcome a limited running game to sustain drives.

If Nelson can't play that could help limit big plays. PI's can create big gains and Carr has had issues with PI's down the field. He plays aggressively and losses where the ball is and gets flagged a lot.

That's true. But Dallas needs to run to have the ball most of the game. Dallas can't get in a shootout and win.

Agree, but he'll have to throw early to back them off. He will do that and then Zeke will get loose.

The formula is having a top 10 offense. GB hasn't beaten a team with a top 10 offense this year.

Green Bay hasn't played a team as good as Dallas since, well, since they played Dallas. I don't want to downplay their 7 game win streak. That's what people did to us. But I will say we're the most balanced team they've faced. I like our chances.

That's a great point. The Giants didn't move the ball well yesterday against that defense but the Giants don't move the ball well on anyone. I expect we'll be able to pass effectively and run effectively.

I don't necessarily agree.

We won a shootout with the Commanders. We only forced 1 Commander punt and forced no turnovers...but we won. We feature a potent offense.

Gb is way better than the Commanders is the difference. Cousins is average at best compared to rodgers.

How is Rogers going to score 28 points if Green Bay only gets the ball 3 times? Here's how it goes: Dallas recieves. Dallas has a 18 play 12 minute drive for a TD. Rodgers gets the ball goes on 6 minute drive for a FG. Dallas gets the ball and goes for a 12 minute TD drive and scores with 5 seconds left in the half. Kickoff runs out clock. Rodgers gets ball. Rodgers drives for 6 minutes and fumbles. Dallas goes on 18 play 13 minute drive, with 14 runs. Rodgers gets the ball with 11 minutes left, goes on 4 minute TD drive. Dallas runs out last 7 minutes of the game and wins 21-10.

TOP doesn't help if Pack scores TDs quickly and we score too many FGs slowly.

I agree with your premise. We CAN win that way, but we can help our defense stay fresh by having long methodical, SUCCESSFUL drives. I think this team has the talent to go toe to toe with most anyone, but they have to be smart about it. Getting in a shoot out with Rogers isnt the smartest way to defeat them.

The Giants hit him quite a bit.

Yes but consider the context. Rogers was holding he ball for obscenely long amounts of time.

The Giant sacks were coverage sacks...where Rogers couldn't find anyone. He held the ball and waited and waited and waited. We must disrupt that nonsense.

And quite possibly at this point we do have a better chance to bring pressure than the Giants did. They didn't have Pierre Paul. Olivier Vernon is a good pass rusher but the Packers double teamed him, believing the rest of the Giants were incapable to hurt them.

I never said the Giants were the 2007 version .

You made several posts about comparing this years Eli being the 2007 and 2011 Eli and how the Gints werw going to have a similar playoff run as they did in the past.
