Let me give you something to think about. Without Nelson here are the packers receivers:

Adams =will be shadowed by Carr
Cobb=will be taken by scandrick
Allison =brown /Claiborne
Cook=jones

if we rush 3 and drop 8 I don't think GB has any real game breakers there. When Rodgers rolls out or scrambles we need that one spy. I trust durant for the job and leave Lee in coverage. Combine that with no running game for GB and I don't see as big a threat as most of you. They might get a couple decent drives. I do not see them scoring more than 24 points.

Now let's look at our offense...
Dez= will draw Damarius Randell who often gets burned
Williams=will draw Gunter who is an UDFA
Beasley= will draw Rollins whose been Horrible good luck with that.

Now add that in with having to stop zeke with two very average MLB's in Ryan and Martinez . I didn't even mention Witten yet. They'll prabobaly have to bring a safety down and play single high. .Most are so infatuated with the QB. That is literally the only position GB is better at. Well, I say it ain't going to happen.
Look I love being optimistic but if this players you mentioned were so average how come they walked all over the Giants?

Walk me through it bro. How does one team get two possessions in a row?

By scoring at the end of the first half with no time left, and receiving the second half kickoff? Or, by recovering an onside kick?

You made several posts about comparing this years Eli being the 2007 and 2011 Eli and how the Gints werw going to have a similar playoff run as they did in the past.

I made comparisons to their 2007 and 2011 teams, noting how they're defense was coming on and how Eli steps his game up in the playoffs but I never said they'll have a similar playoff run and reach the Super Bowl. I did say it was possible but I never predicted they would.

Exactly. Running Zeke 10 times or 100 times won't mean the Packers have fewer possessions than the Cowboys. Discussed this a page or two back.

It's more like fewer possessions in the game total. The fewer the possessions, the more that you have to maximize your opportunities in order to win. Look at the Giants-Bills Super Bowl for proof of that.

Here's what I feel is mentionable going into Sunday...

1) Last game we had no Dez. This game they'll have no Jordy.

2) We've already beat them on their home turf by 14. This game it will be on ours.

3) Last week. more than 25% of the Packers team was on the injury report. http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...ter-injury-report-heading-playoff-game-010417 Ours are coming off of injuries.

4) We're fresher coming off the bye, and have had more time to prepare.

5) The youth factor. Old gimpy can't hang around forever and our defense has looked solid. Nothing seems to phase Dak or Zeke. The OL will continue to protect the QB and open running lanes. Zeke will want double rations after not eating last week.

6) We're hungrier. No one on this team has tasted the Super Bowl. This Cowboy's team has risen above and beyond the call of duty when the naysayers said that it just wasn't possible. There's something special about this team that's slowly percolating in an iron cast cauldron and it's about to erupt all over the cheese heads come Sunday. This is the year we finish the fight and silence the mediots.

I think our defensive gameplan in the first game was excellent. Mush rush 4 and occasionally 3, keep Rodgers in the pocket and flood the zones. Yes, you don't get the sacks and he has forever to throw the ball, but he's not nearly as effective as he is if you blitz him and miss and he extends the play.

Exactly. You get it.

Running the ball 60-40 or 70-30 or 100% of the time...as some fans are suggesting here...is absurd. We need to play optimal Cowboy offense which likely looks something like 55-45 pass.

If the run game is chewing 6 and 7 yards per carry I'm happy going 50-50 run/pass. But you sustain drives by averaging at least 6 yards per play and that requires throwing the ball.

If we run at 5 yards per carry and fall too much in love with that...trying to run our way to victory...it easily leads to a loss. The Packers won't be netting a mere 5 yards per play with their offense.

You were adamant that we should all be scared of the Gints making a similar run.

Just grind out the clock and limit possessions. Red zone defense is going to be key

If I remember correctly Zeke had 157 yards last time we saw them with Dez not on the field.

As a chemical engineer, thats your formula.
191 on 33 rushes (5.8 ypc)...without Bryant...with Beasley and Butler doing most of the damage, along with Elliot. 4 turnovers helped as well. Expect a closer game this time around...but don't be surprised if Bryant goes off.

RZ% esp TD v FG
Sc%
TO Diff

Those are the big three. Most of the other winning stats fits under Sc%.

If you want the formula for making that happen:

OFFENSE
Dak = protect the ball
Zeke = 120+
28+ points

DEFENSE
Pressure and contain AR
Our pass defense forces more 3rd down failures and wins the pass defense battle
limit the run
force more turnovers than they do

Yeah, that 3-2-6 alignment we employed the last few games really gave QBs fits. Throw more of those cross-dog blitzes at them, especially with Damien Wilson as one of the blitzers. He's probably our quickest LB, & he can fly in there to really wreak havoc on Mr. Golden Arm- 007. By the time we're done with him, he'll be shaken AND stirred.

Wilson has been coming on. He could be a big part of the mix. Or we go with 6 DB s and blitz a guy from centerfield or off the edge.

To me, the key comes down to us getting to Rodgers. One thing he does not do is get uncomfortable or panic when there isn't someone breaking open early. How many times do you see him making something happen after buying time? Did it several times yesterday. We might run that 3-2-6 with a spy on Rodgers. Wilson could be that guy. Funny where he has come from, remember the eye injury in the offseason?

Christine Michael and Ty Montgomery have been pretty effective running the ball, we need to keep them in check without having to add extra bodies up front. And Montgomery is a game changer out of the backfield.

We have to keep the big plays to a minimum. We did that well in the regular season, and the Giants were doing that early before just falling apart. The Giants gave up a lot of plays against man coverage and then of course the Hail Mary. Inconceivable that the Giants didn't even come close to that ball. The regular season game, the Packers actually won TOP and had more offensive plays than we did....they just didn't make the big plays they did against the Giants.

The Giants D was a risk to Dallas because so much of what he does is predicated on us running the ball. They are the one team that was able to control the run game inside. "Snacks" and crew allowed them to play it safe in the secondary and prevent big passing plays. I don't think Green Bay has a chance of doing that to Dallas.

When we are on offense, there is the pass rush risk with Free having trouble but Green Bay's rushers aren't that great. With some help for Free with chipping by the TE's and backs, we should be ok. If that one LB for Green Bay is out next week then they are thin at that spot. Green Bay doesn't have anyone that can stay with Dez and I don't really think has an answer for the Beas either. Remember he had two TD's against the Pack and that was without the threat of Dez.

There is the fact that Rodgers has been there and done that, and he comes in as hot as just about anyone, but Dallas holds advantages all over the field and as long as we don't have the dropsies or turnovers I like our chances.

If Green Bay gets up early, Capers will get exotic and see if Dak can handle it.

If Dallas gets off to a quick start and takes control of the ball running and scores on a time consuming drive and prevents Capers from going exotic, we should win.

Good post. Our ability to convert on 3rd downs is key in this game. It's important we convert to sustain long methodical drives. Dak needs to use his legs if it's open.

I like Wilson too but in this game I trust durant. I use Lee to bracket Cobb and use Durant as the spy. One thing to note is that in the first meeting Montgomery had like 10+ catches. The key was they were all short passes out of the backfield. I'm fine with that just have to tackle well.
