So your plan is luck then?
Some of these players who at want nothing besides getting paid, such as demarcus Lawrence and amari Cooper, can hit the damn road.
Thats all it ever is. The POats drafted Brady in like round 23... LUCK.
Mahomes was drafted with the 10th pick... had anyone thought he was a sure thing, he would not have been there with the 10th pick.
Montana was LUCK.
Ryan Leif was the 2nd pick, Manning was 1st... there was actual debate about who would be better... LUCK.
Marino was like 4th QB taken in his draft.
Teams have been drafting qbs like crazy for 30 years, in the top 4 rds. I wonder what % of those guys pan out to be seriously legit QBs? It is almost always luck, unless you have the top 4 picks and get a guy that is considered a sure thing, and it works out. Andrew Luck was considered a sure thing... and he was pretty damn good.
But for every Luck, there is Rosen.
Having no plan is not a plan.
Thinking luck and a great QB all there is to winning a SB is the “Jones way”. They had Romo and apparently no luck. They believe they have just been “unlucky” for 26 straight years. They are actually unskilled at building a winning roster.
Well, let me throw in tanking to pair with your luck. Maybe we'll get somewhere .... someday. Lol.
our roster was every bit as good as the rams....... and the Bengals. Lets switch Dak with Joe B and see what happens.
so you think the Bengals did so great compared to everyone else? or they hit with the right qb to go along with a solid roster.
We must stop doing the same things with the same Owner, GM, and Owner and GMs Son- expecting different results
Fixed that for you
How about switching Jerry for Les Snead?
Gotta be really bad in the right year.
How about switching him for Mortimer Snerd?
Bullet you are spot on as always . Our problem is these guys played just good enough at times to get paid . Once they got paid their production regressed. I thought Jaylon and LVE were the LBs of the future boy was I wrong .
They play just good enough to hold Jerrys feet to the fire and along with their agents, they get set for life and then follow the lines of least resistance never jeopardizing their careers or taking unnecessary risks again . These players now are ruthless businessmen following their owner's philosophy . If we look at this logically guys making a million or 2 a game really have no incentive to play in the post season to get to a game where the winner gets a 150 k and a ring .
Todays big money players view that as a risk to their way of life . They all have an angle , Guys like Micah and Diggs they are going all out now for the pay day that sets them up for life . Then I believe they will follow suite also . Its out, this is where players come to get paid and Jerry falls for it everytime .
That said My only plan would be to have every contract be short and incentive based , IMO that would be one way to boost production but there are still no guarantees. The dysfunction of this franchise knows no bounds and its pretty much impossible to have the whole team on rookie contracts at the same time . Thats, why it seems like as soon as one thing gets fixed something else, goes bad .
Honestly I think all we want is the NFC east title . It keeps us just relevent enough giving the CASUAL FAN hope . Thats who Jerry banks on the casual fan . He keeps them happy and hopeful while they make him rich . Fans like us are Dinosaurs . We care about winning . We dont care how lavish the stadium is or if there is an Art gallery .
We live off the Hail Mary , Bob Lilly sacking Griese for a 25 yd loss in the SB and many more . For todays fan The Cowboys are nothing more than entertainment and a tourist attraction that gives Jerry and all his family a lifestyle beyond our dreams no matter how bad he mismanages it
Deal. At least Mortimer knows he’s not a “football guy”.
The difference between how Booger handles the team and how a real HC would handle it is Booger puts the "you are a Dallas Cowboy" before "you are a football player".
Players have learned there is something "special" about being a Cowboy that differs from other teams. That's why you get someone like Lawrence coming up with something stupid like "HotBoyz" for a DL that has done absolutely nothing. But that's not his fault, he learned the sizzle is stronger than the steak as a Cowboy.
Doomsday did not name itself, it earned that name. Randy White didn't call himself "Manster", he earned that. Same with Leon "Big Cat" Lett, Harvey "Too Mean" Martin and Ed "Too Tall" Jones.
These players enter a culture that tells them they are special because they're Cowboys. That's why Jimmy referred to the "country club culture" and Parcells made the players earn their markings, they know what it takes to become a team.
As much as Tom Landry hated that "finesse" label some used on his teams is how much Booger would enjoy that and never understand how that fits in the blue collar world of football.
The fact is the Dallas Cowboys are entitled and have earned no titles. And they are mentally toughness challenged. When their best is needed is when they fail to show up far too often. I expect very little from them and they deliver.
We keep saying how good this team is, maybe they're not that good, we've just assembled a lot of names
dont need to... Jerry's roster minus Dak is just fine. Like I said, put Joe Burrow behind our center and see what happens.
So there are 5-6 teams that can win a SB? Either because they have a miracle worker QB or it’s just pure luck? History says otherwise.
Aaron Rodgers is great. He’s only won one SB. Russell Wilson special enough? One ring. Matt Stafford? Will this be his only ring? Mahomes is great, and he’s won one. Sure he’s young, but HOFer Dan Marino famously took the fins to a SB in his second year and never made another one. HOFer Steve Young only won one. Aikman played his last SB when he was 29. Why not more? Ben Roethelesberger won two rings- his last when he was 29. He’s certainly headed to the HOF. Drew Brees? Made it to one SB.
This could go on and on. If all a team needed was a great QB, more great QBs would win rings. Great teams win SBs. You need excellent QB play of course. And sure they are a few Joe Montanas and Tom Brady’s. But a HOFer isn’t required. For every Montana and Brady, there’s a Billy Kilmer, Mark Rypien, Jim Plunkett, Jim McMahon, Phil Simms, Jeff Hoestettler, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco, Nick Foles. Are any of those guys capable of carrying a team alone? No way.
Of course having a great QB is huge. But SB history shows that alone isn’t enough.
I would love for Jerry to hire Les Snead, but Jerry isn't going to give up being GM.
So let 5 starters walk
What the plan to improve without both starting DE, starting WR and TE
We had a great roster last year....I'd keep the same players if it was possible. Coach em up!
