We need a better Pass rush

Isn't it wonderful we can agree to disagree. But with Rat moving to DE and a real Nose Tackle isn't that exactly what you wanted?

Yes but we still need another DE with pass rush skills to be opposite of Rat or at least another guy that can spell him. Hatcher to me is not that guy and he proved again he can get hurt easily.

I was being sarcastic.

I see stud 3-4 DEs all over the place, and because I call out Spears for being a complete first round bust (because he should've been as disruptive), I get beaten down with the "3-4 DEs don't get stats" bunk.

Blows me away that he gets a free pass from so many fans.

Oh, and he's still a bust.

I agree. Good post.

I hate this reasoning..... why was his replacement not on the team?

Because of poor personell moves, that's why.

They tried but he went to the Eagles for more $$ remember?

We need more TD by our RB too.

Giants 19
Ravens 17
Patriots 14
49ers 13

Cowboys 4

I thought you said you needed another DE with pass rush skills? You get that with RAT who would slide there and a real Nose Tackle stands to move the pocket inward. So now you have Rat on the left side and the NT in the middle. The right side is manned by both Spears and Hatcher or the best DE left on our roster like Lissermore or Brent? This does not include Ware.

Let Spencer walk and draft Whitney Mercilus at #14.

Sick of hearing about DeCastro already.

Why DeCastro is top 5 prospect, a pick even Jerry couldnt screw up.

Yeah Rodgers looked very very average today with that pass rush he was against. But to his credit, his WRs helped him out none. Jennings dropped a pretty easy TD and there were about 10 other drops or so.

We need to start beefing up our interior o-line first, though. Romo has to be able to have time to give our offense a chance to move the ball.

But we have no pass rush at all other than 1 guy and our secondary is awful. Not a good combo at all. Those 2 work hand in hand. A good front 7 will make a average at best secondary look better.

Agree 100%

Man i was disappointed when he left, and Igor Olshansky as a consolation :bang2:

Canty DID ZIP his first two years with the Giants.

This year I think he got 5 sacks total.

Yeah he did look very well yesterday. BUT as the saying goes even a blind squirrel will find an acorn every now and then

I get what your saying, and as I recall New York over payed him.

But I think he's better than Hatch or Coleman for sure

Cruz and Nicks are a devastating combination and they are both young and getting better. We are going to have our hands full defending them for the next several years.

Just watch the Giants extend Nicks next year and then do the same thing with Cruz the year after that. They will both get them extended for well under premium contracts. They might get both of them extended for less than we pay Austin.

I'm just curious but are you predicting down years for them prior to signing?

Cause if not they're not going to be nice guys and simply sign for less just to be nice and sign for less.

Canty had 3.0 and 3.5 sacks in his final two years here. He had 0.5 and 1.5 sacks in his first two seasons for the Giants, then busted out with a phenomenal 4.0 sacks this season, which is clearly far more than the meager 4.5 that Jason Hatcher managed this season for us. And Canty cost only 5.5 times as much.

amazing. nice stats again.

I think it's more of a case that their Dline/Defense/passrush is playing better as a complete unit. Every guy seems to have stepped up. They don't seem to rely wholly on Humanurine or Tuck to get the pressure. They all seem to be working to get there.

We also kind of saw that in Houston after they lost Mario Williams. It's like guys stopped leaning on him and stepped up.

Let's face it, if Dallas were to lose Ware, how likely is it that the rest of the players could still get pressure on the QB? It can't be Ware every time. Dallas needs guys that will pick up the slack. Those teams have guys that have picked up the slack.

We better improve the pass rush, because Eli and Vick will continue to tear us up as long as we give them all day to throw.

Here's a quote from Pro-Football Talk...

"Jason Pierre-Paul hit Finley coming off the line of scrimmage often. The Giants secondary did a good job bumping Green Bay’s other receivers. One of the remarkable aspects to the Giants victory is that New York’s pass rush wasn’t that effective for the first three quarters. New York beat Green Bay with consistent man coverage, despite all the injuries in their secondary."

It wasn't all about the Giants pass-rush, which I agree with the quote, wasn't all that great the first three quarters.

You can improve a team's pass rush by having better coverage.

Think about it.
