We have all seen, when Romo has time in the pocket he will eat you alive. With TO, Glenn, Crayton, Witten, Barber, JJ no defense can stop us IF we protect the QB.

So this offseason we need to find who are the best FA Olineman, and give them whatever they want. In the draft grab at least a couple OLineman. I really like Gurode at center for years to come, and Colombo has been great in pass protection. The other 3 worry me.

I dont want a Dline to get a clean shot at Romo.

I feel like our biggest need this offseason is oline.

thoughts?

I think Romo can make a decent line look pretty good. I'd like some improvement on the run blocking though. I DO NOT want to see a tackle taken in the first round.

Oh i agree with you about Romo makes a oline look better then they are.

I just want a oline where he doesn't have to make them look better than they are. Imagine if we had the best oline in the NFL. we would be pretty damn hard to stop. Actually impossible

I don't think you will find anyone who is satisified with the O-line right now. It must be more dominant especially in the running game. Hopefully the success of Romo won't fool the Cowboy brass into thinking they can band-aid the O-line like they did last the last couple of off seasons.

I strongly disagree with giving them what the want. Rivera got well paid and now a lot of people are not happy with him. Flo will probably be over paid for what he can contribute next year, but in reality it depends on how far the team can go this year. If the line can pull a 180 and look like different players from the start of the season then to much tinkering should not be needed next year. If they can prove themselves, dare I suggest they might be able to add depth to the team? Can the Cowboys have O-line depth? I'm just talking crazy don't mind me...

You'll find one right here. We're 4th overall in rushing (yards/game). We're giving up just over a sack/game with Romo in. I think that's more than respectable in both aspects of the game. There is absolutely no argument that Jones/Barber "make" this line, either. We've been run-blocking pretty well all season. Could we improve? Sure, there's always room for improvement.

I guess I was thinking more long term. We have a couple of guys that are needing to be replaced very soon.

Absolutely. We'll probably take a guard in round 3-5, but I definitely see Rivera being here for at least another year. I'm not sure how his contract is worked, but he might be cheap enough to retain as a backup in his 4th year.

Colombo, Gurode, and Kosier can be here for long haul. I think Flo stays on for another 3 years at least as well.

I do not want Flozal Adams at LT for another 3 years. The LT's job among other things is to protect Romo's back. You all assume because Romo's playing abilities makes the OL look better that everything is just fine but maybe a little tickering. Well if/when Adams misses/whiffs on a DE who gets thru to sack Romo and maybe makes him miss a couple of games, how many of you will be satisfied then.

We need to upgrade our OL at 2 positions, RG & OT. McQuistan apparently is Parcells choice at LT and hopefully he challenges Adams next year (which is last year of Adams' contract). How many of us wonder why the Eagles don't do enough to get McNabb a good WR and a good RB. Well when will the Cowboys give Romo an OL that is at least good vs barely adequate.

What you say is very true.... Its really a "team" in every sense... definitely cyclical.... the QB makes the O-line look better... TO & Glenn on offense make the line better... have the said WR's make the running game better... by the running game being better... the QB play is better.... by having a good running game alows the TE to catch passes underneath..... THESE GUYS ARE PLAYING HARD FOR EACH OTHER... good execution makes the coaches and playcalling BETTER!

Romo got smashed the second after he threw the first TD to Glenn. That's gotta stop.

IF we had a dominant o-line, this team would be unstoppable.

My thought is that you nailed it. If we value Romo so much we'd better protect our future investment by securing at least two blue-chip blocking monsters.

On the other hand, T.O.'s volatility and his and Glenn's advanced ages, make it imperative that WR is addressed. Yeah, some will yell that Crayton keeps us young but we need more depth than Crayton. And there is no assurance that Crayton is for real or is just playing over his head.

Then there is the problem of who's a backup QB after Bledsoe leaves next year. And our secondary needs consistency that Henry cannot provide.

If we can get a WR and QB in FA, then, yeah, O-line in the first and second rounds. Cause we gotta protect this BLUE-CHIP QB.

I'm tired of seeing Julius Jones getting only like two yards and a cloud of dust, the o-line has to run block better...

Well BP sounds pretty confident McQuistan and Proctor are going to be good players.
I say 2nd, probablt the third round is where we should draft lineman.
We need to upgrade WR and devolp what we have there.
Maybe bring a FS in through free agency.

I have ripped this oline for years... I would love to see these guys draft a guy and develop him!!! Rogers, Johnson and Peterman have made this team gun shy on draft day when it comes to OL... passing on a LT to take a back up TE is just sad!!!

I dont put it all on the players... too many failures not to look at the coaching... this team needs a new OL coach!!!

I wanna coach that will get in the face of these guys on game day for HOLDING or givin up sacks but then turn around and show them how to block a blitz... I never see our OL coach talking to players during the game!

Give me a College coach... with BP contacts at GT, ND and Rutgers and countles others there has to be someone with some fire that BP can add to the staff! I'm sick of seeing FORMER GIANTS on the sidelines pumping players up!!!

RIvera was a Pro BOwl Guard but now is just average. The Hotel has a lot of trouble with speed rushers- and more of THEM are coming all of the time. Kosier looks like a good pick and Gurode of course has been very good. Columbo seems to be steadily improving. McQ really has BP excited so I think we are good for the LT replacement. The real question is do we dump RIvera next year and try for someone like Steinbach or draft one and start himthe year after; of course this Berger guy seems to have some potential; and BP likes Proctor. So actually we might not need to get anyone at all as regards starters. ANd anyone that thinks our O line has been run blocking well has not been watching the games. They are better then last year but then they STANK last year. BUT I think that will improve greatly with new additions and working together.
