There were plenty of hamstring injuries across the league this season. I believe there should be more CBA mandated offseason training/in-season practice time. That might help more acclimate the players to the physical demands that are causing these injuries in practice and during games.

It's biomechanics related not physical demand related... Probably PED related as well

Ppl talk bout this guys 6 sb rings... would be interesting to see the statistics on injuries (for the teams he was apart of vs. The rest of the league) ppl use his sb as evidence To him be the best WHAT IF he just placed himself in a GREAT position 2 times

Yeah, you're right... the first 6 superbowls were probably just flukes.

Or things have just naturally progressed into a different era that Woicik is not familiar with. His SB runs were when the CBA could allow him far more access.

That is why I think more teams who have injury issues outside the norm should seek out strength coaches either straight from the college ranks or not too far removed as they are used to the kind of limited exposure far more than a S&C coach who has been in the NFL 20 plus years.

I do not believe it is a coincidence the Eagles with their mostly college staff, including a separate job function (Sports Science Coordinator), had a very healthy team. Their strength coach had only one year of NFL experience, the rest coming while at Nebraska.

If Jones were smart, he would investigate this opportunity thoroughly.

There won't be though until there is a new CBA being negotiated. It is something that teams will have to adapt to. The ones that refuse to acknowledge or adapt to the new access to the players will be the ones suffering.

Whats strange is that Mike Woicik is supposed to be the best in the business. He was with the cowboys in the 90s during each super bowl, and then with the pats when they won their three rings. Guy has six rings!

That's the thing though. I do not believe the owners will be able to convince the NFLPA to implement such changes.

I agree that teams must adapt. They must in order to remain competitve. However, I do not believe these injuries are flukes. I think the problem will both persist and grow. Then, the Miles Austin habitual hamstringed "superstars" of the league will increasingly become more the norm than the exception.

This is something that needs to be reviewed asap. May not be down to Woicik - there's a whole team of people looking after various aspects of fitness e.g. trainers, medical staff, physios etc. Something serious is wrong which needs to be fixed.

It really may be something out of his control or at the worst an inability on his part to adapt to a different environment.

It might be interesting to see the injury frequency of those teams with S&G coaches who are straight from or less removed from the college game since the access to NFL players is almost as limited now.

Maybe JJ should ask them during the interviews...how many hamstring issues have you had and how do you deal with them...

You have to train enhanced athletes differently than natural athletes. Wouldn't be surprised if his training isn't optimal for todays nfl

I'm sure Belicheck is well aware of his 6 rings, and still let him go......

There was a sports medicine guy come on NFL radio a while back, and he mentioned that the reason for al these soft tissue, (not sure if that was the term) injuries like quads, groins, hamstring and achilles. He said that it is because of HGH abuse.

He joined the Pats the same year Belicheck started. Bill let him go after 10 years with the team. Or rather his contract expired and Dallas swooped in to get him. It isn't because he was bad at his job.

I don't know the contract status, but the Pats could have extended him at any time.

I'm not blaming him for the problems, just doing my best Mickey; if he was so good, why was he allowed to leave!

He wanted to come back to the Cowboys.
