Well, just don't apply that logic to me. I wasn't (and still am not) against grabbing a FA safety. And what happens if the draft comes, there is a run on safeties and the ones you like at 58 go by the wayside? Do you trade up with the limited picks you have? Do you then reach for a safety with a lower grade? Do you wait until the 3rd or 4th round where a lesser prospect likely be? Or do you just say, "Oh well, we have Heath so it's all good!"
This logic that we can't try to improve our starting safeties now because we will just draft one is so preposterous that it makes perfect sense that's probably the thinking of this bizarre franchise.
As for the draft.....Let the draft come to you. No panicking or reaching
If one they really like is in striking range, they might try to pull off a trade of some sort, but I wouldn't count on it.
fwiw...Right or wrong, they like Heath WAY better than you do...for better or worse. That is very clear.
I think they like Xavier as well. Maybe Frazier too. Not so sure about Thompson.
Heath graded our as NFL average last year, while Woods was above average and Frazier was below average....according to PFF (who I sometimes take with a grain of salt but is better than nothing)
