I do like the addition of Logan Wilson, he should stabilize the mike linebacker position and be a big upgrade over who we had starting. Even if he lost a step, he is still a solid option. My biggest worry is Overshown. Can he stay healthy? He is more of a flash player who isn't considered a strong coverage linebacker.

I am looking for an high iq, instinctive linebacker who excels in coverage. Haven't studied the class as of yet, but these are the attributes I am seeking.

I'm starting to be on the Rodriguez bandwagon.

Dude just makes plays, even if he isn't the biggest or fastest LB out there.
I mean, not going to say he's Zach Thomas, but man...

I like him too but it’s hard not to ignore the size difference on the field. His listed size/weight is passable but I’d be willing to bet he comes up smaller at the Combine…at least height wise.

I know…I know…cue all the Zach Thomas, Day Nguyen, et cetera, comps.

Jacob Rodriguez is a very interesting prospect. He was a QB in high school and as a freshman at Virginia he played multiple offensive positions - quarterback, receiver, tight end and running back. Transferred to Texas Tech in 2022 and switched to LB. His background as a QB gives him exceptional pre-snap recognition, often calling out formations and putting teammates in proper position before plays. His leadership qualities shine through as a two-year captain who sets the tone for Texas Tech's defense with his energy and passion.
He's not going to blow up the combine with his testing, but his understanding on what's going on pre-snap already gives him a head start and allows him to play faster than his tested numbers.

Rodriguez is going to be a strange pick.

He has the film and the talent. But we know how the process goes and he likely ends up 3rd or 4th rounder.

Somebody like Detroit or Baltimore drafts him and he is an All Pro

I could live with 6' 235. Nick Bolton is about that size

We need an enforcer on defense.

I am hoping Caleb Downs somehow falls to us.

Hearing good things about him, haven’t watched him yet. I know he is a former safety which could mean better in coverage
He has looked good stepping into the Mike spot. There could real versatility there. Although teams are going look closely to see of he is an NFL Mike or if he is a Will only at the next level

Rodriquez may not have the speed of the freaks but the ability to diagnose and make plays on the football is elite. The club peanut punch out is a thing of beauty
