We need to fix our short yardage offense

before the postseason. it will be our undoing, if we do not.

on a positive note, our opponent next week is just as pitiful as us on 3rd or 4th and 1 conversions.

well i don't blame the playcalling in this one. We came out with the most basic gameplan this week, which hopefully we've got a couple wrinkles for the next two weeks.

You shouldn't have to do any special calls for a few inches though. Is there any doubt felix runs with more power than barber? He should not be the goalline and short yardage back

I bet felix gets a lot more carries in the playoffs. Kinda like what we did a couple years back with barber. Barber didn't start all year except the game julius was hurt, but then at the last minute we find out he's starting against the giants in the playoffs.

Maybe we are trying to catch the eagles by surprise in the playoffs. They would have to play us differently with felix getting the majority of the snaps.

I hope this is what's going to happen. Everyone sees that barber is hurting us out there. If we all see it the coaches HAVE to see it. We shall see though.

Barber and Roy are helping to hold this offense back.

Choice needs to be the short-yardage guy.

Remember the halfback dive? You'd take the ball and launch across the line? MB3 has the lift of a residual boulder and simply runs into the pile. We need someone to hit the line quick, and if it is stopped up, take flight over the pile to get that yard. MB3 has NOTHING.

i used to believe that ivy-league garrett was setting people up for the playoffs...but that never really happened. i think maybe he catches up on his sleep for the playoffs...

yes, felix has much better leg drive than barber does and it's not even close. They just don't let him try.

It's kind of like that fresh new red porsche that really wants to go fast but the owner is afraid to get it scratched.

Not sure what the cure is. The guys just get no push in short yardage plays.

Probably the best fix if they want to run in short yardage is to spread the field and run from the shotgun. That seems to be the play that works best because the defense cant stack 8 or 9 guys so close together. The other answer is just quit running it.

Its not in the playbook, something like a QB sneak isnt complex enough for Ivy League to consider.
