Well I guess we shouldn’t have played like a bunch of babies against the Lions since our season was at stake.

Arizona was the end of the season. Only one Super Bowl team in the last 20 years has won it's final 8 regular season games. The 2007 Patriots, who also happened to LOSE the Super Bowl that year. Moreover, only three Super Bowl winners have gone 7 - 1 over the last eight. The Cowboys would've had to win 12 straight to be champions. Not sure any Super Bowl team has won that many to end the season. Maybe 10...but not 12.

Bears are the most likely candidate. Bears have to play GB, @49ers and Lions. 9 - 7 is a real possibility. But that leaves the door open for the Lions. You would need the Lions to lose to the Rams...dropping them to 6 losses and BEAT the Bears in a game that might determine the division winner (loser is out). Dallas wins out and 10 - 6 - 1 gets you the final spot...assuming the Panthers also falter down the stretch. They have a tough one against New Orleans, who've already beaten them this year. They then have the Seahawks and Bucs twice. So their road is littered with obstacles. Even ONE loss puts Dallas on top of them (if Cowboys win out).

So not all is lost but its significantly more difficult to do with the Lions loss. You need a lot of wheels to turn in your favor now...because I don't believe the Eagles will totally collapse. That defense is much better and prouder than in 2023...even without Jalen Carter in the lineup. I'd would be REALLY surprised if they didn't close it out from this point.

Basically the Cowboys have to end up with a better record than the NFC North runner-up...which looks like either the Bears or the Lions.

Panthers get to play the Bucs twice, and in between they play the Saints. It may come down to the wire as to whether it’s Carolina or TB in that Wild Card hunt

They also have to play the Seahawks. With two battles with the Bucs (who are returning one of their starting WRs) still on the plate Carolina looks like a long shot...especially if they lose again to the Saints.

I feel it is hard for some of our players to play under the mgmt of this team and the annual struggles of just trying to establish some form of excellence ingrained in the system.

If there was a movement to tank the season I can just imagine what some of the players who strive for excellence would begin to think.

Dallas does not know how to play less experienced personnel to give the young players some experience to benefit their play in 2026. Jones want the wins even though Dallas can't make the playoffs. No reason to try real hard to win. The season is over. Just going through the motions.
