We should make a splash with Megatron this offseason

I see Megatron restructuring his deal to stay with Detroit (see Fitzgerald). Even if he is available, too expensive and I feel there options that fit better.

Seeing him opposite Dez would be enticing though since neither of them would demand double coverage on the same team.

Not to mention, having two beasts make it easier to run the ball. No one would be in the box. I like the concept, but as you mentioned, he probably will restructure or even if he is released will command more money than what we are willing to give. This idea does give credence though to drafting a WR (though there are many other areas we could go with our first pick.

I would rather spend that money on Alshon Jeffery from Chicago. He is in the prime of his career and worthy of being a number 1. Plus he is a free agent.

Could you imagine a healthy Dez and him on the same team. It would really open our offense up! Frankly, I don't think either Jeffery or Megatron becomes a Cowboy. It's a nice fantasy though.

he's played every game this year and has 1100 yards and everyone is saying he cant stay healthy now.

sorry, but playing every game is healthy in my book.

I get your point, but if you watch the games, he was nicked up a lot this season which affected his play. He was targeted a bunch but didn't seem to be on the same page with Stafford like he typically is. Hey, I would still take him and he is still an outstanding WR! He is just not what we've been accustomed seeing and definitely not worth 24 million.

oh he's lost a step...but he's still taller and can jump higher than pretty much everyone else haha

Would not help this team much. We have holes everywhere and a broken culture. I would just keep working on the trenches and pray things change.

CJ would be cool. I do wonder if the Benjamin's affected his play though. Was he "nicked up" or was it the fact that he got comfortable with those paychecks?

He's still going to cost a ton.

If there wasn't a cap I'd say go for it. At this point I'd rather sign someone else, cut TW, and devote the resources we'd spend on CJ on a defensive player who can actually sniff a few turnovers.

Regardless, I think our wide receiver position is easily one of the biggest holes on this team. Terence Williams is just not good enough and Bease is not an outside receiver. Butler showed some promise but still....we need some help. If Dez was to ever go down, I want someone who can step up like Megatron's teammate (Tate) has for him when he has missed time in the past.

This is why I wouldn't be against a receiver in the first round. It seems like an early round receiver is one of the easiest positions to hit on in the draft. So many places to go this season in the draft.

Eh...

Chad Johnson and Reggie Waybe didn't.

Danny Amendola has been kind of a bust for them as well. An afterthought when everyone is healthy.

Replace him as a starter? Yes...no need to cut TWill. He is cheap and has a nack for getting open when Romo improvises. It's not like we will have the receiver depth to cut him. Let him play out his rookie deal.

why not, we should've sold the farm for Peterson and squandered that opportunity. Megatron can do to our passing game what Peterson would've done to our running game.

shouldn't let this opportunity pass us up.. i'm with you

The Vikings were NEVER trading AP, what part of that isn't clear to you!!

And the last thing Dallas needs is another high priced receiver who probably isn't going anywhere since Detroit will probably rework his contract

No GM can justify his 24 million dollar cap hit and he's likely to get cut and test the market.

He has a rapport with Linehan, who knows how to use him, and might pick that over learning a new offense at this point in his career.

To me, that would be my number one move this offseason. If Romo and Witten only have 2 or 3 years then we should go for it. I don't think he'll get Dez money at this point in his career (still only 30 by the start of next season) and we could carve a niche for him like the Cardinals have with Fitzgerald. A number 2 WR who does a lot of pseudo TE duties on a lot of downs because you know the front office cannot justify the resources to use a high draft pick on finding Witten's replacement yet and that 2 TE thing really will never jump off for us.

Picture a situation where the base offense is a 3 WR set with Dez and Megatron on the boundary and Bease doing work in the middle. And then on some downs, you can have CJ in the slot and a speedy WR on the outside stretching the defense down the field.

He and Dunbar being back should be enough explosiveness to get our offense back on track and that doesn't count any infusion of talent we would have through the draft.

We have a great offensive line. A healthy Romo, Dez and Megatron could have us competing with Carolina and Arizona.

Dez and CJ are physical wrs, we need someone opposite Dez that has speed and quickness. The more physical corners give Dez and CJ trouble, when the Lions played the Saints and the Rams back to back CJ had a TOTAL of 2 catches for 35 yards and he's not even injured.

One of my good friends is a huge Vikings fan and he said Vikes were open to trading him at one point BUT....their asking price was too high that nobody in their right mind would make the deal. They essentially wanted a first round or maybe 2 first round picks.

And is your viking fan friend part of the front office who would actually be in the know...NO!... the vikings were not trading AP, nothing more than media fed story..just like with Megatron...I believe Dallas has Romo taking up 26 million against the cap next year, should they cut him too then?

He is shiny and has a cool nickname.

We could have megatron and the xfactor on the same team. Think of the cartoon marketing possibilities.

and here comes bp to sanatize the insane. :)

not sure what that means, bp but you did it, not me.
