Don't know much about this guy but he is seeking to get out of Cleavland.

Davis given permission to seek trade
August 19
Akron Beacon Journal (registration required): "Trade rumors that have been swirling around wide receiver Andre Davis are now reality. The Browns gave Davis and his agent permission to seek a trade on Thursday...Davis was the subject of trade rumors prior to camp when word broke that the Seattle Seahawks had called to check on his availability."

Is it too crazy to hope they really miss Quincy Morgan? Oh wait, they'll just get him back when we waive him.

I liked Davis when he played at VT...catches the ball deep.....very fast. He does a great job returning punts, something we could use alot. I would give a 5th rd pick for him....although Cleveland would most likely laugh at me!

The Browns have given Davis permission to seek a trade. I guess they are going to rely on Bryant (that's a huge mistake, but anyway).

The guy is only 26 and he has done pretty well for the Browns. Last year he only played in 7 games and only had 16 catches. But with those 16 catches he gained 416 yards. That's a 26 yard average! Over his career of three years he has averaged over 15 yards per catch, and has 13 TDs.

I think the guy is more reliable than Morgan and could team with Crayton to form a young WR tandom (though we would still have to draft another WR in the first couple of rounds in the next few years or bring in a FA). He would provide experience and playmaking ability if Glenn goes down again. He is a speedy guy and I've never heard he has any character issues.

Additionally, he is a pretty darn good kick returner. He has returned 88 kicks and gained 1871 yards for a 21.3 average. He has scored once.

I don't know what the Browns are asking for him. But it is a need for us and I'd rather us get him than see him go to the Eagles.

Davis is ok. But, sorry to pull a Mickey, if he was that good, would they really just dump him.

For a 4th receiver?

They aren't going to just release him. They want something in return. The Browns have Bryant and Northcutt and also just drafted Braylon Edwards. They can afford to let one of their receivers go.

I'm not saying he would be our number 1 guy or anything. But I think he is a pretty good player (plus, he is from Va. Tech, which I like). I would feel better about him coming in and started if Glenn went down than Crayton or Morgan.

If we do any trading, it would likely be for a RT or FS. They're necessities right now, another WR would be a luxury at this time.

I agree. I do like Davis, but he wouldn't get any playing time here anyway.

We need a #1 WR. Davis isn't him.

exactly.. He's no better than a 3rd WR.. Butch was out of his mind to think he was anything other than that.. Romeo obviously does not agree with the former regime.

But it is a need for us
Since when? We drafted zero WR's and signed zero free agent WR's. Seems like BP has a different list of needs.

Again I agree with you about Davis.. We may need a 4th receiver depending on how Morgan does or does not pan out... I do not like what I had seen posted about Morgan complaining about not getting the 3rd string reps.. If he were doing his job, then Morgan would be the 3rd guy.. I do not want to trade for a 4th guy.. I guess I'd rather take my chances with the FA's on the roster or see who gets released later on...

ya, at positions we really needed to fill. Pass Rush, O line, well at least we got a RG now. Corner back. You cant fix it all. We were 6-10 for a reason. we had a laundry list of problems.

There's a very good chance Peerless Price might be a surprise cut in Atlanta. The Falcons likely have 4 WR spots already devoted to Michael Jenkins, Dez White, Brian Finnerman and Roddy White, and they all might be ahead of Price in the depth chart at this point. They seriously considered cutting him before camp. Given his background with Bledsoe, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring him to Dallas for veteran depth. His time has in Atlanta has been a nightmare, but he's still 28 years old and two years removed had a 94 catch, 1200 yard season with Bledsoe. He wouldn't be bad for depth.

Davis has never really impressed me at all. Davis is an inconsistent speed burner, with no route running ability or natural feel for the game. His numbers show it. Pretty much the equivalent of Morgan, except Morgan's had better seasons.

Didnt peerless have his best season with Drew Bledsoe?!?!? OMG LOL lmao lets get him.

Atlanta doesnt give up a 1st rounder and then just cut a guy 2 years later. especially when Super Human Mike Vick is the QB. You can't blame a WR for not putting up big numbers. Regardless, Vick gets wins, so I'm not bashing him in any way. He's a winner, just not a good passer

I listen to the Radio out of Philly last week, when all this TO stuff was happening, and they asked Ray Didinger of NFL films about a trade for Davis, he said that he was not impressed by him going back to his days at Virginia Tech. Ray mentioned that Davis only talent is running straight down the field and that he has poor hands. So it sounds to me like he's Quincy Morgan! :trophy: :iggles: :suxiggle: :disseags:

Yep, that's pretty much all I've ever seen from him. Even back in his VT days, the only route he could run is the fly. I don't even think he's as good as Morgan. Quincy Morgan nearly had a 1000 yard season in his second year. Davis has only cracked 500+ yards once in three seasons.
