We still need three starters?

We still need a starting DT although I assume Jerry thinks the 1T is now solved between Woods, Urban and Watkins. Band aid approach again it appears.
I am guessing you are correct here, but there still isn't one of these players that can bring pressure, and hold up to/demand a double team. Dallas defense would be so much better with a player that could do both.

the goal this season is Average. We want an average defense, not a terrible Nolan defense.

I will take average.
I have higher standards and will never be happy with average, but I realize that it will take some time to build a very good defense, if they are capable of building one at all.

LOL, we need starters

DT (number 1)’
FS
CB
LB

in that order

DT first
I may be nuts but I think they need 2 new starting quality LBs. LVE will be hurt by week 3. He will suck weeks 1 and 2. Are we really going to allow Smith mock the position and prance about again. Contract and reputation aside there is no way that guy deserves to be a starting LB.

They need a good LB i.e. someone with good instincts who can actually diagnose a play rather than react to it and can take on blocks and shed them when necessary. Parsons , Bolton, Collins, Cox, Davis, and JOK if you play him at LB are options in the draft and I think KJ Wright is still available with a projection of $6 million APY KJ Goodson would be about $6.5 million APY.

We need

CB DRAFT AND FA.
DT DRAFT AND HOPE ANOTHER FA.
LB DRAFT OR FA OLB AND MLB, LEE AND LVE REPLACEMENT.
FS DRAFT AND FA

if we want a better Dee

LBer......( LVE and Jaylon)
FS.........( current=????)
CB.........( Diggs, Brown, and Lewis )

Backup QB......??????

IF we stay home at 10, no trade, I'm guessing we're picking LBer or CB unless one of the top 5 players falls.

- I just dunno how this team thinks of their LB situation, or will stubbornly make excuses to Not upgrade their LB situation.
We will be band aiding the LB depth with street FA scrub vets post- draft.

- But I really believe management will force DC Quinn to keep Jaylon as a starter - and they will not give up injured prone LVE.
I see club not returning Lee.
i'm prepare for us Not adding/upgrading at LB ...but we direly do need top notch starting LBs

- We had probably the worst DT group in NFL.
Record Awful vs run, and zero interior pass rush. But I see them believing in Gallimore's development,
I think they will gamble that Hill will recover and continue his pre-injury flashes. I don't see us drafting must have DT draftee early on.
At best, we could add a late round 1 tech type. ..No sooner. Very low regards for 1 tech role

- I see our needs as DT, CB LB, S and OT ..

- Diggs needs far more help than average Brown/Lewis opposite at RCB. Maybe an early round CB ?
- we wont draft S early, so expect bargain vet signing again, and late round special teams type.
- we'll unfortunately go with same ole Jaylon/ LVE roles again
- we'll stubbornly bypass OT in early round and draft depth type in mid or late rounds, they really believe Tyron and Lael Ok.
- I really believe management wants every chance to see what Gregory can do starting full time basis. No DE draftee early on.

What I am saying is, they have Brown as a bridge outside starter. He could hold down the starter role, until a prospect is ready.
This allows them not have to force taking a corner at 10

I think Diggs emergence allowed Cowboys not to have to force a CB early at 10th overall than Brown or Lewis.. in their eyes and optimism, they think he can be a lead CB.

Just because we do Not take a CB at 10th overall,,, should not mean that we won't take a CB in the key early rounds at all.
Diggs was a value 2nd rounder.
And some draft guru's though he could have projected Diggs as a late first rounder. So we got terrific value.
The top three draft round matters the most.

It's still too late to add a couple of quality players but for a team that was dead last defensively, even breaking a few records, you would think there would be a bit more sense of urgency UNLESS.......as stated earlier, they blame Nolan and his scheme rather than talent.

No way we can expect to draft FOUR starters.......something has to give. Either trade or more free-agent signing coming

They do this every year and tell us next year will be different. The results speak for themselves.

We haven't signed any starting caliber players yet but we lost some decent depth (Thomas, chidobe)

And what's the plan with Aldon smith? Did we blow it by not accepting Seattle's offer(I think we did) will the be brought back on another 1 year deal, walk, or will he be signed long term and overpaid and bragged about as our trophy fa signing behind dak

What's a bit concerning to me is we've lost players and even if didn't we still need some serious upgrades at certain positions considering out bad we were. I'll wait to see how it turns out it but things are certainly off to a slow start.

Don't think he's coming back.......not sure how true it is but one of the beat writer's claim to have heard he didn't wanna come back, so maybe it's a mutual thing.

Typical Dallas free agent pick, waste of money, didn't help the team much and only there a year or two...

The defense needs starters, players for sub packages and depth at all 3 levels.

We don't need to sign a bunch of young players to long, inflated contracts. We need a few quality veterans on one or two year deals to compete with current players and future draft picks.

We need two at safety, one more at corner, one more at linebacker, and one at 3T to compete with Gallimore.

Otherwise, this is how you get Taco Charlton again.

It's another very deep CB class, where we can find day 1 starters through the first three rounds. They are in position not to reach to fill a need at 10.
