I remember someone started a thread a while back about what does "rue the day" mean?

Well here ya go.

If Garrett goes elsewhere... HE WILL have much success and many will flip flop.

For me... I hope he stays. The guy is quality. The guy is premium. The guy is top shelf.

I just hope he learns a 2nd or 3rd formation. I thought he was the 2nd coming a year ago. This year my 15-year old son and 16-year old daughter would guess the plays and they were right most of the time. No lie.

He's too bland and too predictable. Mix it up and I'll be back on the bandwagon.

I can see him being a good HC in time but he needs a lot of work and a primo OC and DC in order to do that. but if he's gonna replace Wade why wait another year? Jerry is just wasting the the primes of these players with bad coaching.

What's it going to be then, eh?

If one thing Jerry is good at, it's rueing.

Actually, I do not believe he is very good at rueing. The fans are better at rueing.

He tends to regret things after the fact, like he is claiming he regrets not giving Chan Gailey the same "continuity" treatment he is affording to Wade Phillips right now.

Is that rueing?

I'd say this could be a case where we would benefit in the short term then in the long term wonder what if.

There is a lot to be said for experienced coaches.

That's why so many get retread.

You learn from doing as even Belichek went from very mediocre to the current dynasty builder.

Jason is a smart guy and he knows basic offensive principles. He will likely make a very good X and O guy in time. But right now he is not a good handler of players or egos and his lack of on the fly adjustments was almost David Shula-esque.

Now all that being said I think he got the shaft from a perception standpoint because his weapons weren't healthy and he was hamstrung by guys who couldn't execute many of his plays.

This is true. I think the reason or part of the reason is that he was on the Cowboys teams that ran you over and dominated you. Opposing teams knew the play and we STILL executed.

That is not the case with this team. It seems he wants to get back to that. Things are different now though.

I dont know that we can say "alot of work" simply because if TO doesnt drop as many as he does or if Romo wasnt so "inaccurate" late in season.... then Garrett would have been touted for OC of the year.

Yep... I believe that its that fine of a line.

How many All Pros does Denver have? Because Garrett pretty much needs one at every single position for his offense to work. I hope they don't, like, have a middle of the road interior offensive lineman go down with injury at some point in the season, because that could torpedo the entire team.

I said this, and started a threat stating that, about a week and a half ago.

Just want to make it clear so that I'm not accused of being a "band wagoner" after it comes to pass. I agree with you. We are a team right now that, here is another one of those sayings, "cuts off its nose to spite its face". I can't think of a better saying to describe what the "Garrett, please get out of town" people are doing. The problem, people, is Jerry, plain and simple.

Personally, I'd take my chances.

Nostalgia can sometimes be detrimental.

Hey, if our Oline could protect, we would have executed well IMO. Not saying he should not have adjusted his gameplan since they could not - that is a different matter altogether.

I am indifferent as to whether he stays or goes. I think the best thing for him would be to not get a HC job, Jerry to hire Shannahan and keep Garrett on as OC.

Shannahan would probably be very good for Garrett.

I don't know that he's "top shelf", but cutting ties at this point would be highly premature. He has shown promise. Now that he has also shown fallibility, it's time to see if he can bounce back with creativity and sophistication to become the coach he showed flashes of in 2007.

What has he done other than back up Troy and graduate from Princeton?

If he'd gone to, say, Oklahoma State and looked like Brad Childress, would people be saying how great he is based on what he's produced as a pro coach?

Serious question.

Or if he had spent his career as a backup on the Eagles or 49ers instead of the backup of the Cowboys during the "glory years' would people still be saying how great his is based on what he's done as a pro coach?
