We will regret not getting James Hardy (IMO)

and so will 30 other teams. (IMO)

I'm not sour. I think we had a good draft overall.
Could have been better. But could have been MUCH worse.

But one thing I'm convinced of is...

barring any off-field interferences, James Hardy is going to be one the league's most dominant, future receivers. We had every opportunity to make a move to select him at a HIGH value spot, invest in our future at WR and address a pressing need on the team.

It pains me to hear that Jerry wanted to get him as well and lobbied for trade up but was outvoted. Instead, we got another 2nd round backup TE and a project.

Who knows, maybe Bennett turns out to be beast. But in my opinion, Hardy already is.

It's not like he didn't try sir...

I feel ya.:star:

Per Jerry in his presser...

"We were not in the receiver business in this draft because there were none there that would compete with who we already have."

I liked Hardy, but i'm not so sure that we will regret not trading up to get him.

This was not a good receiver draft so we didn't take one.

It was a good RB/CB class so we took two of each.

That's the way you have to draft to be successful in the long run.

We should still be okay in the passing game with TO, Witten and Crayton.

I also wanted Hardy; he strikes me as another future elite WR in the Randy Moss & TO mold. He's more raw then Moss was but development by our WR coach could really have moved him along. Oh well, maybe Bennett can be our poor man's TO.

Your dreaming. The Patriots were able to take TO & Witten out of the game and Romo was left with Crayton, etc. Other teams also succeeded in either taking TO or Witten away. Some of he teams we will face in the playoffs might be able to do it as well. If your content with that, then don't get upset if Romo can't win a playoff game cause we haven't given him needed weapons.

I think a lot of this was due to our inability to run the ball effectively. Part of this was Julius but part of it was poor run blocking by the OL. Hopefully with Houck running the show now, that will be vastly improved and teams can no longer ignore our ground attack.

That's the very point of my post. I think he would compete with and ultimately win the battle over who we already have.

I understand the consensus that this was a weak draft for WRs and thus we didn't go there.
But when the 1st WR hasn't been chosen by the middle of the 2nd round, the value shifts from what was anticipated during pre-draft strategy.
32 teams thought Marques Colston was J.A.G., as well. They couldn't have been more wrong.

Jerry said he wanted to trade up and get him, but was overruled in the draft room. It sure would have been nice to have him isntead of Bennett. This may turn out to be a situation of Jerry being right and the coaches/scouts being wrong.

Damn, I'm with you fellas, I really wanted this guy, the one time I want Jerrah to get his way and he doesn't.

sure hope we're wrong since he's not a Cowboy

I really wanted Roy Williams from DET if that was possible but I never really believed it would happen.

I became convinced at some point that Hardy may very well be Roy Williams and then some. Younger and cheaper.

Man I hope I'm wrong in the end.

I am still depressed about not getting Hardy, I had been hoping for this guy to land in Dallas for a good few months. Hardy was my favorite player in this entire draft, he will be great very soon.

amen...with the money invested in this OL...and now with the money invested in the rb....we HAVE to run the ball better. And here is something else many are missing...we rarley got a short field because our special teams stunk. Imagine our offense only having to go 60 yards once or twice a game....that will also relieve some stress on the offense. Or imagine the field position we will gain by having legitimate PRs.

I liked Hardy as well. Thought they would go up to get him or Sweed actually.

Would they have taken Sweed had he fallen instead of the TE?

Hardy is the ONLY WR I had any interest in whatsoever. He has all the intangibles to make it at the next level.
