Weeden did what was asked of him. Unfortunately, you really can't take chances to try and put the game away in the second half with a backup QB. You try to play it safe and play not to lose instead of playing to win.And the Falcons made us pay. And it doesn't help when your only receiver that was always open was #82.

And I agree with you. Even if its not working, you can never simply abandon the run. I remember the horror of Garrett doing it nearly every week in the first quarter when he was running the offense into the ground before he was stripped of the play calling.

I think Linehan could have called some deeper throws as Alt safeties were moving closer to the LS. Yes you want to be safe but you can't play scared. Weeden is capable of throwing the long ball, but if all Dallas is going to do is throw the short passes defense will just come up strong to defend them. Dallas must make them back off.

Yes he is.
He doesn't play DL or LB and isn't responsible for stopping the run.
The Falcons don't allow deep passes period and have been allowing underneath throws all season. So we tried to take it. They shut down our run game and we let them run wild. That's what cost us most.

Weeden can manage a game but not against a good offense.

He can probably manage the game against the Saints if they don't have Brees, Seattle, the NFC and the AFC East except New England because their offense can struggle to score points.

Not knowing much about Weeden prior to his arrival in Dallas, I took a look at his college highlights. I realize highlights don't tell the whole story but Weeden was throwing 50, 60 yard passes down the sidelines, 30 yard back corner fades, long crossing routes, etc with very good accuracy. What happened to this guy? He went from a first round draft pick from a big football college, throwing bombs, to a 5 to 10 yard dink and dunk guy with what seems like zero confidence. Is it his coaches, play calling from the sideline, scheme..?

I think they went into the game with a good game plan and it showed but they failed to adjust. I think Linehan should have had Weeden throwing deeper balls and fact is those short one while higher percentage they are also more dangerous because when they are picked off there is little in front of the CB to prevent it from being returned for the TD. Thing with the occasional deep ball even when incomplete makes the defense leery of moving up to the LS

How is it that the cowboys organization doesn't know or realize that Brandon is not good for anything to us?

We could have and should have prepared a better backup starting last year or right after draft.
