First wave of FA is gone. Dallas bringing in 3 guys. I can see melton or allen and weeden. 2 of the 3 but not all 3

Sign Weeden or Shaun Hill, let Orton go and draft a QB like Murray in the 5th round. No need to spend 4m on a back-up QB.

This says to me that Orton's gone, and they want veteran insurance in case a guy they like in the draft is not available where they want to take him.

If they get their rookie, he and Weeden can fight it out, or we carry three QBs for a year as we develop a younger player. Sucks, because I like Orton as a backup.

Anyone else feel like this is just a little....I don't know, weird? Are we trading Orton? Just seing what Weeden has in case Romo gets hurt? Are we cutting Orton for Weeden to create salary cap space?

Yeah it is, I would say Orton plans on retiring and the fact the Cowboys havent been communicating with him has them more concerned.

I think that Orton will be traded or he will retire. Most likely traded, I can't see him giving up that much money to retire. If i remember correctly, he would have to pay the Cowboys back a prorated part of his signing bonus (something like 3 million, i think) if he retired. He will not be cut IMO.

Ok...

I mean if we want a veteran back up if Orton retires isn't Fitzpatrick or Shaun Hill a better option? I've definitely seen those guys play well in the NFL. Plus it's not like we can say he's young and can be developed. They might be more expensive though. I'm all for it as an arm, maybe he's got something and it was being hidden by the Browns lol

I like the idea of carrying three QBs, one being a rookie and one being a vet, so we can develop a guy. No reason to pay big bucks though like they did with Orton.

Seriously makes no sense. Weeden is a hot mess and is almost as old as Romo.

We don't have enough cap room for Melton and Allen, so we got to start trimming the payroll

$4 million for a backup is way to much. Also Durant should not make any big purchases because he is probably next in line of players that can be cut to increase cap room

Time to note that the Browns have recently dumped both Weeden and Jason Campbell, while keeping Alex Tanney, a player who we didn't think was worth a roster spot. There is a reason for that, and I don't think it is just money.

I don't think it matters at all we had high grades on Weeden when he was playing in college because he has proved by his performance on the field that the NFL game is simply too big for him. Honestly, if we MUST go there, I would rather sign Jason Campbell than Weeden.

Don't get this done, Jer.

Are they or have they cut Kyle Orton?

Save that money for a safety
