This game, 12/16 @ 8PM ET, is a Saturday night game. Anyone know if this is a nationally televised game or will it be broadcasted exclusively on the NFL Network?

Damn the NFL Network, does that answer your question?

It is NFL Network and also will be available in "local" market... however I'm not sure how wide "local" is. I don't believe Houston or San Antonio would get the game for example, outside of NFL Network.

Austin was able to receive the preseason games. Does this mean Austin is included in the local market?

No, the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area is considered local. Thank goodness for DirecTV for those of us in Louisiana.

People who have the NFL network in San Antonio won't get the game either unless they have dish network. Time Warner is the main provider and a smaller cable company called Grande Cable does have the NFL network on their sports tier.

I have the NFL network with Grande Cable and the NFL will not let my Cable provider broadcast any of the 8 NFL channel games now.

Last week my cable provider was given notice by the NFL network that if they didn't move the NFL network to the basic cable tier they would have to pay an 800% increase for the 8 NFL games or they would not be allowed to broadcast the NFL games.

I have been paying for the garbage NFL channel for 4 months now just so I could see that game and now I cannot watch it even though I have the NFL channel.

I hope the cable companies stand their ground and take the Bully out of the NFL.

thanks for the reply. looks like i'll be heading to a sports bar

Just get the dish. Installation costs nothing, and you will avoid the hassle and expense of a sports bar.

You mean CW, they merged with WB to get twice the fraction of the ratings the other networks receive. Basically this will be the highest rated show in UPN/WB=CW history, it is going to destroy the Gillmore Girls.

Yet the cable companies, and yes, even satellite companies shove utter garbage into your TV package with no complaints from you, the consumer. How often do you watch CSPAN, Home Shopping Network, and Christian TV (and countless other channels)? These networks wouldn't survive without the cable and satellite companies shoving them down our throats, and bundling them into our packages.

Now that the public actually WANTS the NFL Network, the cable companies balk at the idea.

I have a deal for the cable companies. Just eliminate the worthless garbage channels, and give the public the NFL Network. This will keep the cost for the consumer the same. Fair enough?

I have to hand it to the satellite companies. At least DirecTV gives me options, and a large selection of packages to choose from.

You give an inch they will take a mile.. you give that kind of leverage to the NFL network, other popular networks will do the same. HBO, Porno channels and such...
and I love football but not everyone wants it...in fact a lot of people couldn't care less about having the NFL channel.
I could go without a lot of those garbage channels we get in basic cable however they arn't going away because there are other people out there besides sports fans who watch those "garbage channels" a lot.
