You know, I keep hearing time and time again that the Cowboys don't have an identity.
I've got news for ya - the Cowboys have an identity.
The Cowboys play like Tarzan for the first 55 minutes or so then play like Jane for the remaining minutes. That is the Cowboy's identity!!!
Do you know how this game makes me feel?
Like I was offered an evening of uninterrupted, inhabitual sex with Miss America - and then when I'm on the bed wearing just a smile, she tells me she is not in the mood and tells me to leave.
There is so much to be both satisfied and dissappointed with in this game.
- I refuse to blame the defense in this one. Hey, If I was to tell youo yesterday that the Seahawks would only score 13 points, many of us would have thought Dallas would have won the game.
Dallas has given up less than 20 points in 5 of the seven games they have played. Dallas also won the other two games where the defense yielded 20+ points (SD & SF). So the defense has done their job and kept the Cowboys in the game.
However, the defense has one setback. When they need to make a big play at the end of the game, they come up snakeeyes.
Dallas just held the Eagles, Giants and Seahawks to 13 points or less and came out of it with a 2-1 record. After the Oakland debacle, many of us would be happy to get through that 3 game stretch with two wins.
- The loss of Flozell is going to hurt this team more than we might have thought. Hey, the Skins went through this last season with the loss of Jansen. Now, Dallas either has to leave two backs in to help the young offensive tackles, or risk getting Bledsoe killed.
Bottom line - the offensive line underperformed even before Flo went down. Now, the Cowboys are in trouble! Flo was the one guy on the line the Cowboys could ill-afford to lose. It will haunt this team for the rest of the season.
- Why did Dallas get rid of Robinson? Granted, I knew that pigeons were crapping on his shoulders, but he could still deep snap.
This in no way excuse Cortez's missed FG. Romo got the ball down with the laces away. It was just a bad kick on his behalf. However, LaDoucer's snaps were terrible today.
But credit McBriar for keeping the Seahawks pinned inside their own 20 for what seemed like most of the game. I think one punt rolled into the end zone.
- Bledsoe. He had his first really bad game today. He got lucky on several occasions that other passes were not picked off. After some 11-12 years in the NFL, Drew still hasn't learned his lesson. Instead of going to the checkdown, he risked the big play and Dallas got burned.
Just what in the #$%^$%& was he thinking? That pass still would not have been in Cortez's range! That final pass had to be a Hail Mary type play. Either that, or you sit on it and play again in overtime.
The way the defense played, I thought for sure that would have been the better option.
- Terrance Newman continues his outstanding season. Nice job!!!
- Good hard running by Barber and Thompson. Both came fairly close to breaking one.
Final Analysis - Until Dallas finds a killer instinct and learns how to put teams away, then these types of games will continue. The Cowboys are a 9-7 team at best.
