Weird question about Buehler.

Now I know that Buehler played LB before. Is there any chance that he could learn the nickel LB position and replace Carpenter?

I don't really see how it could hurt. I'm sure that kicking is probably harder than it seems and probably takes alot of practice and work, but Buehler seems like a guy that just wants to play.

He's got amazing statistics for a typical LB:

40-yard dash: 4.56-4.63
Bench: 25.0 reps
Vertical: 37.5"

Is it out of the realm of possibility for him to know 2 positions? Do you think that the coaches would try this out? Do you think Buehler would be up for it? Could he be effective as a kickoff specialist/nickel LB?

Sorry, but one facepalm just isn't enough.

"Weird" isn't quite the word I'd use to describe your question.

Wait a minute? Why are we laughing? How could the kicker be any worse?

He's got the physical tools, but I doubt he's played linebacker at any point in his life. I believe he played safety in high school. I think what we have him doing now is about as far as we should take it. He's kicking the bejeezus out of the ball and playing on punt coverage.

Apparently everyone above me enjoys seeing Carpenter on the field.

Or maybe we prefer that he be replaced by a real linebacker, not a kicker moonlighting as one.

His girlfriend is nice looking. Does that help answer the question?

I can see the Pizza Hit commercial already:

Jerry, "What's it gonna be Buehler? Defense or kicking touchbacks?"

Buehler, "Both."

Jerry, "What's it gonna be Buehler? Pan or Hand Tossed."

Buehler, "Both."

Come to think of it. This is exactly the type of crud Jerry would try to pull.

Can Beuhler call plays on offense as well? Can't be worse than Garrett. ;)

I heard he calls a mean delayed draw. :p:

Buehler played linebacker in high school and junior college. And I didn't know this before, but he wasn't even a kicker until his senior season of high school, when his coach wanted other players to try kicking off because their regular kicker couldn't kick off very deep. Buehler's first try went 8 yards deep in the end zone.

I doubt he'll ever play any snaps on defense, but who knows? There were some who said Buehler would never play on the punt coverage team, either.
