If I were Jerry - I would back up the truck into Weiss driveway and showcase
so much cash that he forgot he was even coaching ND. The transition from Parcells to Weiss would be minimal for the players. Then let Weiss pull one of the coaches from NE as new DC. Obviously this wont happen because it makes too much sense.

Actually, Parcells was never much of an offensive minded guy as far as I know, and I've never seen Weiss show the emotion that Parcells did when he was young.

Weiss was a great OC in NE.

Of course, they do cast similar shadows....literally....:laugh2:

That would be a dream come true or Weis could sign Crennel from the Browns as our DC since theres talk that he could be fired. An offensive and defensive genious on our coaching staff, doesnt that sound like paradise?...

It won't happen because the Giants job should be available and that is one of Weis' two dream jobs, with the other being ND. If he leaves for anybody, it's them.

I'd rather spend the dough on Fisher.

For the Weiss backers - what has he done at ND that is so impressive that you say "I gotta get me some of that?" I really don't get it.

I really doubt that JJ wants to pay the $15 miilion buyout on Weis's ND contract- then spend another 4 mill per year on top of that. 5 year deal =$20 million. on top of the $15 million. Does JJ really want to pony up $35 million?

I'm not a huge backer. I think it's being the OC for 3 SBs, then getting head coaching experience at ND. He hasn't done too badly either. Nothing GREAT, but he may have "IT"...

Since we don't know if there's a $15 MM buyout clause, who knows? :D

some coaches are just better at the NFL level than collegiate level. I think Weiss is one of those guys. I would be very suprised if Weiss wasnt a success at the pro-level in any capacity.

I'd have no problems if Parcells stayed and Crennel came to be our DC.

I thought Fisher signed a new contract w/ the Titans....
There's been a lot of talk about the ownership picking up his option, but I don't think they've sat down to hammer out a long term deal.

If I am wrong, someone please correct me so I can stop picturing Fisher as our next HC and move on.

I live in Titans country and I have not heard anything about him signing a new deal.

Yeah, I'm no longer on the Weiss bandwagon.

1. It'll be too pricey to buy him out.
2. There's a long list of hotshot coordinators that never pan out as HC. I can name 3 from the Cowboys alone - Turner, Wandstedt, and Davis). Not saying he'll fail, but considering the investment to get him out of ND, I'm not sure it's worth the risk.
3. Fisher's won in the league as HC and seems to get his players to overacheive.

Sweet.

Until the Titans lock him up, I'lll continue to believe that there's a chance that he could be our next HC. It's also got to be very tempting for Fisher to coach one of the most recognizable teams in all of professional sports.

The biggest monkey wrench I can see is Parcells. If he takes too long to decide (which he has in the past), I can see the window of opportunity closing pretty fast.

Well, how about this: Weis took a Notre Dame team that was 11-13 the two years before he got there and he's gone 19-5 over two seasons (that represents ND's first back to back winning seasons since '98, also the first back to back bowls since the same year). Four of the five losses came against teams that went into the bowl season ranked 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the BCS.

I'd say that's pretty good for a rebuilding effort.

Having said all that, as much as I love the Cowboys I also love the Irish. Let Jerry find his own coach.
