Actually Spencer was moving up the draft & at least one draft had him going around 15-20 in the first round. On the Ticket there was conjecture we moved up to work deal with Philly because we might have believed that NE (another 3-4 team) might go after him. Sure hope Spencer produces for us in his first season.

Sure hope we get a good player with our 52th pick in the 2nd round.

In 2004, Spencer played in 12 games, starting the first 11 at weakside defensive end. He registered 33 tackles (18 solos) and finished third on the team with 7½ sacks and 9½ stops for losses. He also batted away six passes and caused three fumbles, earning All-Big Ten Conference honorable mention.

Even though he started all 11 games in 2005, Spencer failed to match his 2004 exploits. He was limited to 23 tackles (16 solos) while posting three sacks and 7½ stops behind the line of scrimmage. He caused three fumbles and recovered another while also deflecting one pass.

Spencer bounced back with a banner senior year. The Ted Hendricks Award (nation's top defensive end) finalist ranked second in the nation with 26½ stops behind the line of scrimmage, the fifth-best season total in Big Ten Conference history. He finished second on the team with 93 tackles (69 solos) and first with 10½ sacks. He also caused five fumbles and recovered another while batting away six passes and blocking one kick.

In 47 games at Purdue, Spencer started 36 times. He registered 155 tackles (106 solos) with two fumble recoveries, 13 pass deflections and a blocked kick. He ranks fifth in school history with 21 sacks for minus-147 yards and finished seventh on the Purdue career-record chart with 44 stops for losses totaling 241 yards. His 11 forced fumbles rank second in school history.

Well we have 4 1st round picks playing linebacker, plus a 2nd and a high priced free agent, if our defence isn't good next year it never will be.

He did really well at Purdue last year and was constantly double teamed because the rest of Purdue's DL was pretty weak. He will do well at Dallas.

26.5 TFL, He was rated better than shaun phillips coming out of the same school, Purdue. If Wade can get similar production out of Spencer than he got with Phillips in the same system I'll be a happy camper.

I hate this about Jerry.

He gets so stinking skittish and assumes people are coming to get "his guy".

This is why we moved up to draft David LaFluer, Quincy Carter, and Shante Carver.

Yes, I wonder how far Spencer would have fallen if Jerry had not traded up. The talent's all pretty similar at this point.

Wow... he was a guy I talked **** to last year when he came here. Never would have imagined him being a Cowboy. I'll ask him if he's willing to do an interview for this site and maybe invite him over after I see the general reaction to the pick. Here is a picture I took of him.

he doesn't look good to me like Ware does he looks flabby? I like the idea of having another elite pass rusher, but his physique does not inspire hope that he is it.
