I don't see this as a good pick...we need a run stuffing defensive tackle that can also get a push rush to help collapse the pocket. They draft another soft player. Jones 2.0 as far as I'm concerned. This pick was made to cover up past incompetence by wasting a pick on Smith, now we waste a pick on another soft player. Might as well traded the number 1 pick to Seattle for Thomas...

i'd argue hitchens was more productive in his position than dez was the last 3 years. dez simply was *not* putting up #1 numbers. "but he takes on 4 defenders" talk is just talk. no he did not and not successfully when he was being double covered.

We don't like to give FO much credit but when you sit back and look at the past few years we've picked well in round 1. LVE was a smart pick, has future ramifications because Lee's great career is coming to an end and fills an immediate need for depth. Some fans kept saying watch for the splash pick (trade up) because the draft was in Jerry world and he loves the spotlight. Those fans are nibbling on crackers this morning. Polly want a cracker

If our run game is on like it was 2 years ago, our recievers will be getting open more because defenses will have to bring up extra people to stop the run. I think the boys will get a 2nd/3rd round WR (Sutton). Plays kinda like Dez but knows how to run a route.
