Well done Jerry!

Have you ever seen LVE play?

Lee - LVE - Smith. Pretty solid LB corp.

Lee is a 30 year old injury prone linebacker, how many more years does he have left? Smith hasn't shown me anything, and I stand by that he was a wasted pick, as for LVE, the scouting report, he doesn't like to hit ... we have Byrone Jones who can be dragged 5 by grabbing a guy around the waste, now it appears we have 2 guy who like to take guys down by wrapping up at the waste.

The Draft was at home ... trade up and get that much needed stud DT.

I was pleasantly surprised that they went defense first. To all of those spouting doom: Chin up. There's plenty of draft left and plenty of time before training camp for things to develop. Relax and let things play out before declaring the apocalypse.

I don't see this as a good pick...we need a run stuffing defensive tackle that can also get a push rush to help collapse the pocket. They draft another soft player. Jones 2.0 as far as I'm concerned. This pick was made to cover up past incompetence by wasting a pick on Smith, now we waste a pick on another soft player. Might as well traded the number 1 pick to Seattle for Thomas...

Hey, don't forget to add Zeke was a wasted pick too. He sucked last year also and was soft with his 4.1 ypc.

none of those guys are difference makers and no we won't get sutton.
you don't know this nor do i but anythings possible and Suttons been on their radar and they seem to be telegraphing that if they don't trade up they will pick him..you cant say these draftees are going to fail and cant be difference makers..who knew who Miles Austin or Laurent Robinson was until Romo made them stars.. the nfl is full of late picks that blew up on the scene including UDFAs..lets give this chance before declaring failure

The scouting report by one person or consensus of all scouting reports?

McClay has made Dallas one of the best organizations in the draft in recent history. I think I will trust him and his scouts thousands of hours of game film study over our armchair GMs and YouTube warriors. I feel this pick is very similar to Frederick and Martin reactions (and Taco but we still don't know what we have with him.). But the prior two have become arguably the best in their position across the league. Did I want the sexy WR pick? Sure - but I can also admit I'd make Dan Snyder look like a genius if I was GM, too.
TY! lets relax a bit and see how 2018 goes, a long way to Game 1 in Carolina..

I'm going to sit back and smile every time this kid makes a play and all the naysayers can't say anything positive about him in good conscience.

It's easy to compare LVE to busts of the past but come on, give him some time behind the wheel before you pass judgement. This rebuilt defense is young and seems to be miles ahead of what we've been dealing with in the recent past.

We added another cog in the machine at a position of need who has the measurables to develop into a really nice player with a better coaching staff behind him.

Personally I was happy with the pick. I figured like most that it would be LB or a WR. Vander Esch I think makes a good LB core with Lee and Smith into a great LB core. As for WR I see several quality prospects out there the Cowboys can choose from

Yeah. Much rather fill the hole created when Hitchens left than the one we created when Dez left. :)
I think the hope is he fills the hole when Lee is out
We filled the hole much better when dez has been out than when Lee has been out

This signals that Dallas doesn’t think Dak can utilize a star WR. It’s gonna be all about running and spreading the ball around while utilizing matchups on offense.
Or maybe....just maybe, we needed a LB. Lol....There is no way this had anything to do with Dak doesn't need a WR. Lol. We picked up 2 WR's in free agnecy. So, we aren't pressing for one....definitely not in the 1st round.

Not a lot of WOW to this pick but still a solid pick.
I’m not a LVE fan but it’s not because he’s not a good prospect. It’s more to me he’s a risky prospect
On paper the kid has everything you want and can easily get even bigger
My reservations are not about his ceiling, it’s very high
Mine were about his floor
I always worry about Dline players on a great Dline and one year starters
There is no doubting the potential I just like a more proven commodity at 19
If they are right he has the potential to be a great LB

I'm happy they went defense too. Cowboys are a run first offense and do not need a first round pick WR.

It would have been tempting to go WR. It was looking like we might .Many fans would have supported it but going defense especially LB was the solid smart move addressing one of our greatest weaknesses.

Thanks
Why are you thanking Jerry? I thought he had nothing to do with the draft anymore?

The sexy pick for the fans would've been a WR. Even Troy and SS were talking about going WR.

Glad to see it was a defensive pick.

Even sports authorities follow the " script" given to them by their employers.

Sure they even let a " dissenting" voice in, aka Michael Irvin .... but offset that with the talking points of the moment just like the rest of todays media.

really a LB at a College level with his Senior numbers "don't like to hit" thats not the case and total Rhetoric and speculation.. if he didnt like to hit hed had picked say a TE postion, lets stop making accusations..Maybe hes not the lead with his head looking for the ESPN highlight real hit that gets him flagged or fined etc but as a LB hes not afraid of contact , you act as if the FO and scouts on ALL teams hasn't looked at 20hrs of reel clips just on his tackles and hits,..if they really thought this I doubt they would have chosen him over Evans.. it was as simple as that/ Jsmith may not have shown nothing to you but i saw a guy who played better as the season wore on and its not his fault the CBs made him play too many snaps coming off injury but with Hitch and Lee out a lot he was forced to play way above his snap count..

Getting a base run stuffing MLB would have been easy later. Getting LB depth would be easy.

Getting a WR who could take Terrance's spot over was harder. We're basically committed to not upgrading our starting WRs, despite the problems they caused last year. We got cheaper.

And unless we're screwing around with Collins, we've got no LG.

We had a trade back. Didn't take it. We were in love with LVE.

Haven't heard that we had a trade back. Please explain.

Love the pick. Receivers, DT's, and lineman will be picked up today and tomorrow. So far, so good.
