Karma is a thing that rhymes with itch and seeks those who like to snitch.

Puppet master Mara, try as he might, failed to scrape the Zekeness from the Cowboys attack last night, and as insult to that injury, Mara suffered the loss of his premier prima donna. Goldilocks watched from the sideline has his overhyped and misevaluated Giants staggered to 49 yards by halftime and notched 3 whopping points on the night.

The Cowboys defense still isn't very good. But we saw the '85 Bears against that rag-tag Giants offensive line. The poor Giants offense looked like they were running on treadmills.

Brandon Marshall is doooooone. Has been for a while. Sterling Shepard is a slot guy that needs a No. 1. Engram is a rookie toy that needed to be an offensive lineman in this past draft. Those running backs couldn't make the Cowboys practice squad.

The Giants defense stood tall for a while, but they looked like hammered doo-doo by about the middle of the second quarter. They was gassed, bubba. Zeke and the o-line just pounded them over and over and over. The punctuator was a collision between Zeke and Landon Collins, and the Giants star safety got much the worst of it. Something inside said that was it.

Last night's glory wasn't without flaws. The entire NFL looked like junk on a stick yesterday in Week One. These teams just aren't ready yet.

First, the good performances that stood out:
  • The offensive line. La'el Collins fought his tookus off all night, and Chaz Green did, too. Kudos to both young lads. The other three were their typical wonderful selves.
  • Sean Lee. I could watch that guy play forever.
  • Jaylon Smith. Congratulations, young man. That was a true tribute to all your hard work, and I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with how you played.
  • Jeff Heath. That guy was everywhere, making tackles all over the place. Didn't make a mistake that I noticed.
  • Anthony Brown. What a terrific draft pick.
  • Maliek Collins. Gonna be great for along time.
  • Demarcus Lawrence. Just dominated the Giants weak right tackle. Looked really quick.
  • Zeke. Yep, he makes a huge difference. Those tough runs just demoralize opponents. I wish he'd drop about 8-10 pounds though.
  • Dan Bailey. True as they come.
  • Chris Jones. Punt after punt to pin them back. Played a huge role last night.
  • Nolan Carroll. I didn't notice you, which is a good thing. That deserves mention.
Now for the not-so-good:
  • Dak Prescott. Calm down, young man. You were misfiring all over the place. I'm not worried about it at all, however. I'll chalk that up to eagerness and rust after a CBA-crappy camp.
  • Taco Charlton. If you can't beat Flowers, it's going to be a tough year. Don't think we didn't see TJ Watt's two sacks and interception.
  • Benson Mayowa. See Taco.
What a great evening. In fact, I'm an OU fan, so it was a truly spectacular weekend of football.

I thought Mayowa played fine. He definitely had some pressures on Eli.

nice write up.

however, and not just directed at your post, but I seen it come up elsewhere....it's ONE game, people need to stop the Watt vs. Taco comparison.

Mayowa doesn't deserve to be on the "not-so-good" list. He played well. And, in fact, he was robbed of a sack when Manning's knee hit the turf before he then got away with throwing the ball away.

Brad Sham was on The Fan this morning. He thinks Mayowa will only get better and better.

The comparisons will never stop, nor should they. Dallas could have chosen either guy and chose Taco. They'll either be right or wrong based on what each player does in their career.

Zeke definitely looks a little too hefty right now. He was huffing and puffing out there - but that's somewhat expected with the lack of touches he gets in the preseason. I think his conditioning will improve in the next couple weeks, and be full-on six pack before we know it

I sure hope so, but I liked what I saw from him last night. The defensive line overall actually. Those guys were firing off the ball and charging upfield all night. And that made a huge difference in how the defense performed overall.

If they can keep that up, we really might have something. Hopefully, it was more them being good and less the Giants offensive line being bad.

Did anyone else feel like the Giants were getting picked on by the refs and Dallas really didn't have anything significant go against us?

I can't disagree. But we need more than one game especially when one is playing full time and the other is in a rotation.
Watt will have twice, if not more than twice as many plays.

and Taco vs. the giants and Eli's quick release, vs. Watt against the Browns....who is going to have a better chance to succeed on twice as many plays...well, actually NY did not have a lot of offensive plays, for a player in a rotation.

I think I will wait a few more games, or all year to compare.

NO......
Collins was screwed on the roughing the QB call..
Dez was had no calls on a good 3 PI's, not called...

I did not see anything that was close to where it hurt NY on calls or non calls.

Oh, no doubt. Anyone who's making a conclusion at this point is being rash. I'm on record as being a TJ Watt guy, but I'll wait a while before I start 'yapping'!

Meanwhile, Watt is playing outside linebacker in a 3-4 and Taco plays DE in a 4-3.

Yeah, and players never transition, right?

Our own DE Mayowa was a 3-4 OLB. Still Smokin' Randy Gregory was a 3-4 OLB type at 235 lbs. Somehow they had no trouble drafting him anyway. D'oh!

You make excuses if you want. I don't want to hear 'em.

If Watt's better, he's better. I'm not jumping to any conclusions but I don't want to hear any built-in excuses if the team is wrong. No 'get out of jail free' cards for me.
