Yup there are certain teams that you never take the Vegas line on. The Yankees, the Cowboys, the Lakers are all good examples of this. They just so happen to be the most popular teams in their respective sports.

Its about getting the same amount of money bet for and against in a particular wager and not about who will actually win.

That has little to do with the initial odds on conference and super bowl winners. They give the longest odds to the teams they expect to be bad, and vice versa.

With the argument you and the other guy make, the Cowboys would yr in and yr out be super bowl and nfc favorites, and history clearly shows they havent been.

No, it is a combination -- you set the odds highest for the teams that a) you expect will be good and b) you expect will get a lot of bets. You expect a lot of bets on Dallas so whenever we have a decent team we are going to be very high on the favorites list b/c the number of bets generated is going to kill the book if its at a higher payout.

The Cowboys aren't the favorite year in and out but we are usually up high - given how we finished last year there is no justification for placing us above teams like NYG
