That has nothing to do with it. Go back to 1988, 1989, 2001, 2002 etc etc...see where Vegas had us then.

How dare you use facts and common sense to obliterate a completely asinine theory created to simply shew away something someone doesn't want to see.

Vegas usually right but not always. Had the Cowboys as favorites at one time last year, remember?:laugh1:

WHY??

I thought everybody wanted to be the underdogs, i think they're just hyping it up , so in the end when we dont make it , they have something to say.

I really wish Vegas was that careless with their money.

Its going to be interesting to see the Patriots again this year, with Brady healthy. 11-5 without Brady.

A year removed from 16-0.

No, it is a combination -- you set the odds highest for the teams that a) you expect will be good and b) you expect will get a lot of bets. You expect a lot of bets on Dallas so whenever we have a decent team we are going to be very high on the favorites list b/c the number of bets generated is going to kill the book if its at a higher payout.

The Cowboys aren't the favorite year in and out but we are usually up high - given how we finished last year there is no justification for placing us above teams like NYG

Well again, you can go back to plenty of years where the Cowboys were longshots to do anything and you will see that the above is wrong. There were plenty of examples where the Cowboys were extreme longshots to do anything and Vegas set the odds accordingly.

Again -- what did I say? When you expect the team to a) be good and b) get lots of bets -- it pushes that team up much higher than they should be.

Your example continues to be "back when we sucked there were long odds" -- ya see how you aren't even close to my argument with your reply? If anything when there is little realistic shot of a team like Dallas winning the SB, the book might give even longer odds on them to generate more bets.

Dallas at 3 is a joke, don't they know the Cowboys always collapse after turkey day!

It doesn't matter to them...they give the odds...people bet...Dallas chokes...Vegas wins...

You're right. You'd think Vegas would think that folks are catching on to their chokeing and bet against Dallas though. They've only been totally collapsing after T-giving day for about 12 years in a row now! But I guess Vegas has got for themselves something that works.

It really isn't the "vegas folks" though -- sportsbook is more about the fans -- especially for stuff like superbowl betting. Game by game ... that's more about the real gamblers. Few professional gamblers are going to put money on an event that is so far down the road.
