"I had a conversation with Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan," said Paul Allen, Vikings Radio Play-by-Play.

"Scott had him at the senior bowl and Scott leveled with me. I've known Scott for years and he said I'm going to level with you. I had no idea who he was when I arrived in Mobile and then I saw this big looking kid, who's mobile and can move, roll into the senior bowl and Scott was blown away."

I want him in dallas so bad, I just don't see it happening though. He will be gone to root in Cleveland. Poor kid.

So... scott Lineman didn't know who Wentz even was? Am I reading that correctly? Wow.

I don't find that odd. These coaches are all into their jobs. They really don't come out or surface much during the football season.

There's a story going around that Nick Saban and another coach were in a restaurant talking football. They didn't even know the place was being robbed they were so into their discussion. Someone had to tell him later.

Convenient alibi for Saban

A year ago I asked the Cardinals CB coach Kevin Ross what he thought about my former player Damarious Randall, who played at Arizona State. Ross had no clue who he was. I wondered how he could not know a DB who plays right down the road from the Cardinals. He said coaches don't start looking at college players until the week before the Combine.

That's why teams employ scouts.

I get that and it makes sense. What it taught me is that the coaches are basically focused on stuff even after the season over. Self-evaluations, free agency, and then draft prospects.

My comment was pretty innocent. It wasn't directed at you or any perceptions from me of a lack of knowledge on your part. I was really only piggybacking on your astute observation.

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. :)
