reports that scouts felt he did very well, he can't control passes dropped in the game.
There is plenty of tape of him not doing this in a offense he played in for 4 or 5 years and not a offense he played in for a few days.
If true (and I'm not sure it is), this is the kind of stuff he would learn while Romo runs the team for 2 or 3 years. Wentz is not a QB ready to play on day 1. Dallas doesn't need that. They need a guy with a high ceiling they can develop. Wentz fits the bill.
This is also a reason why Cleveland may very well pass on him.
I am not sold that Cleveland will draft a QB in the first, not at all. They have spent some significant resources on the position since 2007, 3 1sts and a 3rd. They may not can stomach it again. They may try to go get some pieces for a new QB and fill in the QB void in FA or trade for a QB that has proven he can play in the league. And pick up a development QB in the 3rd or so.. I don't know of course but I can see them passing on a QB in the 1st.
I think you need to re-evaluate how you evaluate players.
Wentz has already put his talent out on tape. These Senior bowls aren't about how they perform in the game.
Wentz has great feet, a rifle for an arm, and by all accounts is a very intelligent guy as far as football goes. That didn't change Saturday.

If Wentz had 4-5 years of tape, there would be no questions about him.
Hype seems to have died down a bit on him after that game at least. Good for us if we still plan on taking him at #4. Perhaps it will keep Cleveland from taking him. Bad for us if we were never planning on taking him and wanted Goff instead ( who Cleveland probably takes now ). Doesn't matter one way or the other if we don't plan on taking a QB at all.
Lack of tape is 1 of the best things going for Wentz I think. The more tape you have the more opportunity for scouts to pick apart and dissect. A lot harder to find those flaws when you're only looking at a grand total of 600 throws against 1-AA competition over the past 2 years.
Great points. It's wonderful for him, terrible for scouts and us.
That's why it cracks me up seeing all of these people slobbering over Wentz. Even if you're a good internet scout (oxymoron, I know) you've probably only seen him make 250-300 throws on tape. Take out the check downs, bubble screens, throw aways, ect. and you're talking about 175-200 throws against 1AA competition. And people are so sure about him?? Boggles my mind.
And I'm not saying whether he will or won't be a good NFL QB either, just saying that myself and everyone else here has no clue.
He didn't throw for a TD.... You think he will against an NFL defense?
We have the 4TH OVERALL PICK! This guy is not worth it. Maybe in the second round.
I have questions on him at #4 overall just based on what I've seen of him game footage on YouTube. He's a very inconsistent QB. He will have a lot of plays where he does everything you can hope to have a QB do, then has plenty of plays where he looks nowhere near ready for the big time.
I think most QB's in college are similar, but he's playing against far weaker competition. Personally, I am still wanting Paxton Lynch over Wentz at this point.

What exactly is the source of the wentz hype? I remember he was a 2nd rounder or possibly a mid to late 1st rounder just a few months ago and now he's a top 5 pick. What has he done to justify moving up so fast?
