We're better suited for a 3-4 defense

We have been holding teams to one touchdown in a multitude of games this year and y'all wanna change stuff. Smh.

Finally, the roster is shifted entirely to the 4-3 and the defense is improving, and now folks want to go back.

I've seen enough Igor Olshankys and Marcus Spears around here. I want real defensive ends.

What's it going to be then, eh?

We still don't have a NT.

This is a lot like Wade Phillips' scheme. The planet theory nose tackle does not fit. Look at any of Marinelli's defenses or Smith's or Dungy's defenses. No fat bodies.

I know. I always hear that this stud DT doesn't fit and anyone can play CB in Marinelli's scheme but I have yet to see proof.

Same with you don't draft FS or RB.

Booger McFarland was pretty big. He's only listed at 6-0 300, but I'm sure the weight wasn't accurate

and fwiw, Wade Phillips is currently using Sylvester Williams 6'3 315 and in San Diego he used Jamal Williams who was 6'3 348.

Considering where our talent level is with certain positions on the defense, I think the defense is doing really well this season.... Honestly I don't know how you could realistically ask for more out of them, aside from creating more turnovers... I think going back to a 3-4 at this point would set the defense back for years to come... It also seems like it's slightly easier to find guys that can excel in a 4-3...

I know we just converted a 4-3 a few years back, but imagine having Lee and McClain in the middle, with Gregory and Lawrence manning the outside linebacker spots. Thoughts?

Makes no sense because you don't have the one thing you need for a 3-4... a TRUE NT.

It has been shown before that Garrett interviewed Kiffin and chose him. Jerry was overseas somewhere at the time.
This is the first I ever heard Garrett wanted Kirby at all.

People make everything up. When Kiffen was hired, all the Garrett fans wee telling us that it was his associations with him somehow through Tampa that got him.

That being said it was Lacewell who brought him over and Garrett probably interviewed him. But people act like Lacewell and Garrett would be on a different page. Lacewell and Jim Garrett worked with each other in Dalkas for years. They both have his ear.

They went 4-3 to generate TOs, plain and simple. Garrett said this outright when they fired Rob to give the get ffende more chances.

They did it based on the Chicago defense producing TOs the year prior with Marinelli.

Ratliff became NT because of the injury to Jason Ferguson. He was drafted as a DE if I remember correctly.

Gregory and DLaw's alums played a 4-3 and neither has played LB. The one glaring problem that is more pronounced with one less man up on the line is a lack of a NT with size. Mincey would be worthless. Hardy could try the Watt role but he's undersized. 98 and his namesake would transition well. I see Irvin able to fit the scheme.

You would have no OLB depth and still the same gaping hole at the nose. We're leveraged for a 4-3 sorry.
