Now that that draft-a-QB talk has died down. what is the obvious first choice in the draft?

Because Glenn is long in the tooth and T.O.'s volatility, wonder if we might be banking on a blue-chip receiver in next year's draft.

OK, we need O-line help. And (consistent) secondary help.

But then again, if (god forbid) Romo goes down, what do we have left next year? I don't think Bledsoe will be here next year. Just a hunch.

Hmmm. QB or receiver? O-line or secondary help? The wild card is free agency, I know.

I think we need QB help to back up Romo.

Have to go offense, I'd imagine -- whether it be a young receiver or to fill some obvious holes along the offensive line. Unless a linebacker prospect emerges...lol.

Depending on who's available I think (1) WR, (2) OL, (3) QB would be a pretty reasonable prediction.

Well it all depends on Romo's play. If he is the guy, then no need to draft a QB HIGH.. I hate drafting OL HIGH regardless of the need. I think we go WR or CB in the 1st and in the 2nd. 3rd, I might look at a possible QB or OL. I would draft 2 or 3 OL in this draft,, mostly 5-7 rounds.

Just looking at our current Roster, we don't have any glaring holes to fill with the draft. We have 3 young WR, We need some OL help, but a rookie will not be any better than what we have right now, Kosier, Andre and Columbo are all pretty young, we have a young T in Pat and a young guard in Proctor that BP thinks can play. Not to mention the young C on IR right now. Don't need TE or RB. And on D besides getting a good CB to groom behind Henry, I don't see any glaring holes either. I think we are in good shape right now.

It hasn't died down in my mind. If, and that is a big if, we win the division and Romo shows he is the man, maybe the second or third round, but otherwise, first round. Trade up as well.

Time for my monthly Draft mantra:

Since 1991 the cowboys have taken an offensive player in the first round only 1 time - Dave LaFleur.

That's 15 years without first round calibre offensive drafting.

If the talent is available I would trade my 1st for 2 seconds and draft 2 OL and a WR in the 2 and another Olineman in the 3rd,.... at this point in time.

At the expense of seeming like an elitist, preening Cowboys fan, I will say this..... This is the Dallas "Freaking" Cowboys. One of the most glamorous positions in all of sports, not just football. The starting QB for the Cowboys deserves to be a high drafted, highly touted, talented, hollywood good looks, honest-to-goodness star. While I am not a Notre Dame fan (I also do not hate them for the following reason) they are to college football what the Cowboys are to professional football. They are the most polarizing team, where it is love or hate / feast or famine. Championships are the expectation and losing is not tolerated. Quinn will already come into the league with this on his head, so why not end up in Dallas where the same expectations and hatred are dished out? He has proven he can take it (physically and mentally), and that he is very talented, and most importantly that he is a winner.

Romo did win some admiration from me for showing the emotion he did, crying after his first start (and win), and he did play well. And I respect the fact that he has parlayed his patience and survival of roster cuts to make it this far. I am just not sold on having an undrafted FA as the QB for THE DALLAS COWBOYS. I want more. If that is the wrong attitude then I am sorry, but that is the way I feel.

It is time to quit trying to take the cheap path, and get on the high road to a FRANCHISE QB for this team again. Not just a good/to average guy with moxie. Just my two cents.

We need to draft a QB within the 3-6 rounds next year.

In this league you need a good back up, and I for once would like to have someone that could play well for us if Romo got hurt...knock on wood.

I guess if you had Tom Brady who was drafted in the 7th round you still would want Quinn?

When Romo wins 3 out of 4 Super Bowls check back with me, and I may change my tune.;)

P.S. I think Brady went in the 6th, which is two rounds (so to speak) ahead of Romo.

Not comparing Romo with Brady, you were just saying that the Cowboys had to have a high profile QB who was drafted very early to sustain their heritage.

Which is it?

LOL..........

I'm still Jonesing for a Nice QB prospect. However, I must say that as of one week ago, I was on board for the best LT on the board and then a QB prospect. That really hasn't changed. I'd still like to see us do whatever we need to do to take the best LT prospect on the board, assuming that he grades out. I just don't love what the prospects of resigning Adams might mean.

Like Parcells says - forget how you aquired the player. When they are on your team, how you got them is irrelevant. What they bring to the table is all that matters.

he can't win 3 or 4 super bowls if you replace him
if romo is for real, and i think we won't know for several more games, then no reason to go qb.we need oline and youth at wr. those are the spots i would target assuming romo is for real. i would'nt mind trading up in this draft because i don't see 7 or 8 guys making this roster, move up and get that elite player we need be it ot, or wr
