Would like to see a little more balance than what we have been getting.

We started to get the run game on track a little today, only to have penalty after penalty.

Dont look for any balance next week as the Vikings have the best run defense, but a horrid secondary.

Thoughts?

*sigh* Our 3rd down D was THE STINKER in today's game-we wouldn't stop the Pats, hence leaving our O off the field.

Yes-we DID run the ball early on too. Once you get down by double digits, it means you're going to have to start throwing more.

BTW-penalties killed us today.

There's no question that we're pass happy, but it's worked for us this year pretty well. We just finally ran into an offense that made us pay for not controlling the clock a bit more.

Have to remember, Garrett is still a first time playcaller and a former QB at that. I suspect we'll find a bit more balance as the year rolls on.

The RB rotation needs to flip. Barber to start, JJ to rotate in. Our offense will not have as many slow starts.

You know what will fix this? Fast starts or even better starts. Getting the lead early. That is what will fix that percentage.

we lost the ball game when Garret called a pass play to start the drive when New England went up 28-24. Flozell gets called for holding. It then becomes 1st and 20 and we were never the same. JuJo had just ran all through them on the previous drive...why not see if the run game could get going? Especially when our defense was tiring

We lost the game when we decided to pass on 3rd and goal from the 5 with 10 minutes to go. Should have been a run up the middle with Barber, followed by a go-for-it on 4th down if Barber gets us within 3 yards of the endzone. My gut tells me he would have either gotten to the 1 or gotten the touchdown. We've seen enough of Barber in the red zone to know better than to throw it in that situation.

I agree. It seems like once they get the run started they lose that page of the playbook. The CB have so much potential to be a really good run team. Running would eat up the clock and keep the defense fresh and help hide the weaknesses in teh secondary.

This is what most fans wanted. Open it up. Well, that works against bad teams. Except against the Bills.:) We were not going to win an air battle with NE. Our best defense against the Pats would have been a slow grind it out offense. I think our coaches took to much stock in our record and forgot who we accumulated those wins against.
owens still has a slight case of the dropsies, and Crayton seems to be catching it. Phillips is fooling himself thinking these young DBs are better than they are. Again, against the likes of Trent Green and the Grossman's of the NFL they are fine.

We were slapped back into reality a little yesterday. It will be interesting to see if we just keep trying to fool ourselves or start to adjust to our strengths.

agreed.

way, way, way too pass happy and in spots where it's inappropriate.

imho very poor overall coaching & playcalling the last two weeks. 3rd goal from the 5 was the icing on the cake of stupidity with the pass then FG but there are numerous other "why did you do that" decisions made.

Trailing 14 to 0 early help put Dallas in that situation.

Sounds like you want to go back to playing not to lose. :laugh1:

Oh, what hilarious offseason mantras we come up with...
