Were we going to draft RB Allen or Davis in 4th round?

I haven't heard any mention of this - wondering if anybody heard a comment on this. IMO, we took for granted that a RB would be there in the round we projected them, and we kept missing. HUGE MISTAKE to miss out on a RB when this was the richest crop of RB an NFL draft has seen in many years.

I would have gladly given up a 7th to move up a few spots in the 4th and get Buck Allen.

I think Allen and Davis are decent backs but both had their 'warts' and neither was in the same class as Gurley, Gordon or even Coleman for that matter.

I don't think the Cowboys "lost" a whole lot by not drafting them.

No. And we didn't make a HUGE MISTAKE either. If we wanted a RB, we could have draftred or traded up for one at any time. We didn't want one that bad.

Not wanting one is a huge mistake. There were a lot of good RBs there for the taking.

Boys wanted the rb's they already have. Didn't see any big upgrade after Gurley and Gordon were gone. And they said on their board, had more pressing needs at other positions to fill.

Didn't hear anything about the 4th round, but the guys on DC.com said we were strongly considering David Johnson at #91, but he went about 6 picks before us.

Exactly. We have 4 RB in which three were drafted by various teams. I take my chances that one of them will pan out behind this line.

Cowboys didn't keep kissing on running backs. Fans may have but IMO if Gordon or Gurley didn't fall to them running back wasn't going to get picked. They even said as much prior to the draft. Fact is, Cowboys like their running backs and I'm not sure if they shouldn't.

I think Dallas really felt like the drop off from Gurley and Gordon was so significant that the other running backs simply weren't worth the pick and wouldn't have given us any more then the committee of four we have now.

That doesn't mean they're right, or that I agree, but I just feel like they obviously felt like the drop off from the top two to the next tiers of RB's was just to much.

I have a feeling they were going to pick Mike Davis, but SF traded up to the pick before ours and took him.

I'm really curious about which players they might really have wanted but just missed getting.

McFadden is Gordon/Gurley/Yeldon and Joseph Randle is Coleman or Ajayi. Then we have Randall Williams who basically Mike Davis/Duke Johnnson and Lance Dunbar for Langford/Abdulla

Possible misses:

Rd 3-David Johnson
Rd 4- Buck Allen, Mike Davis
Rd 5- Ajayi

This may be where they were targeting/willing to take these players and just didn't have it go there way, narrowly missing them.

I think both will be better than Gordon or Coleman, but we'll see. With Davis, it will depend on how motivated he is.

I'd rather have Gordon/Gurley/Yeldon for McFadden, Coleman of Ajayi for Randle, Davis/Duke Johnson for Williams and Langford/Abdullah for Dunbar.
