Here is what coach thought of the game:

That is exactly what the Cowboys are at this time. They are not one of the worst teams in the league but they certainly aren't one of the best. Why? One of the reasons is the obvious lack of production provided by the passing game. Dismiss the Tampa game because much of the yardage came because of terrible secondary mistakes by Tampa which allowed Dallas to make the big plays. The release of Terrell Owens took away over a third of Romo's production from the last three years. No problem. Now who replaces this production? They have been selling the cool aid that says we'll spread the ball around and throw to the man that's open. Very good but that theory is flawed if the QB and receivers are not on the same page and the receivers have trouble getting open.

This Dallas team can play respectable defense, can run the ball effectively, has a good kicking game but cannot be successful if they can't produce passing results when needed. Right now the receivers don't get open and Romo is not playing consistent when he does have a chance. Not on the same page? What have they been doing all spring and summer and training camp and pre-season games?

Now the 2-2 Cowboys travel to Kansas City for the match up against the 0-4 Chiefs. The Chiefs are not a good football team as they have lost 8 straight and an amazing 27 of 29. The main problem is an offense that has been held under 200 yds total offense in three of the four games, been sacked 13 times and has made only 9 of 51 third down situations. These results put the defense in terrible situations and then the whole thing goes to hell.

The Chiefs are trying to put things together with a new head coach in Todd Haley, a new QB in Matt Cassell and new GM in Scott Pioli. In this situation you want to be the GM because coaches and players positions are volatile. The Chiefs have some very fine players in Larry Johnson, still a formable runner, Dwayne Bowe, a good receiver and on defense Demarrio Williams , a good linebacker. The Chiefs have very little margin for error as they try to dig themselves out of this hole and success is essential for the attitude of the team. They will see hope in playing the inconsistent Cowboys but will need help from Dallas to win the game.

Let's get to the bottom line. The Cowboys themselves are the biggest issue. The pressure will increase as each bump in the road comes along. Can they handle that and improve? This becomes a test for the coaches as well as players. It's not hard to lead and perform when things are good. The test comes when adversity hits and with each loss comes more scrutiny, more questions, less answers and while it is early in the season, a continued pace of 2-2 makes you 8-8 and then you truly are the best of the worst and the worst of the best!

What worries me about this game is that Todd Haley is a good coach and, as Sean Payton did several years ago as the Saints coach vs the Cowboys, will throw everything but the kitchen sink at them. Dallas better be ready to face the desperate Chiefs who are led by a coach who knows most of this team's weaknesses.

What evidence have you seen to date to really suggest that he is.

Personally, I think he's too new to the job to give him a grade.

No, he really isn't.

Bottom line is our WR's are not good enough.

Teams blitz us and we have to keep in our backs and TE's to pick them up, and in doing so take our best targets out of the passing game, and forcing our WR's to get open. So far they're not open very often, and when they are Romo has missed on some opportunities.

I'm not giving up on the season...far from it. But so far many of the nay-sayers are proving to be right when they said we had no WR depth and that it would hurt us.

No question that Romo and the WR's need to step up.
