Not that he needs to be defended, but Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips took the extra step to backup quarterback Tony Romo as a hard working, focused quarterback.

Speaking to about 650-youth middle school and youth coaches, Phillips drew a nice response when he said Romo hasn't missed a workout in two years that he's been the head coach.

"I don't know anything about Jessica," Phillips said, "So don't ask me anything questions about they're going to together, not going together. You can say whatever you want, he does this or does that, his focus is on football."

If you're a Cowboys fan, that's always good to know.

Watch coach Phillips' remarks.

I've been informed by 'sources' that this is NOT the case.

Wade is obviously dumb.

Actually I've never heard that Romo ever missed any practices, workouts or anything else to do with his football duties. People seem to forget that Romo is allowed to eat dinner once and a while and he can chose who he eats with. Of course in Dallas too often he needs police help just to get to his car cause of the swarm of Cowboy fans seeking his autograph. No wonder he gets the heck out of dodge occasionally.

This whole Romo criticism is beyond me. I can't help but laugh about it. Come on the guy has a life. I much rather him be balanced in his personal life and be able to put his best foot forward. Sometimes there is such a thing as too much football.

Those at Valley Ranch know what is going on and those outside the ranch guess and make up stories. If you’re not willing to get info from those who know then you deserve to look like a fool buying into gossip and rumors.

It's never made sense to me that a man is not allowed to have a social life outside of work.

How many of ya'll go out to clubs and places of social activity after a long day at work? Does it affect your performance? Does it change your ability to do your job correctly?

And im not talking to the ones who go drink there life away for hours and then come to work hungover .......Yea im talkin to you Hos ;)

As long as the player is not going out and getting into trouble that could cause him to miss time due to suspention then yes players like anyone need time to relax and enjoy their life. People made an issue about Mexico yet I don't see the difference between going to Mexico or a guy flying back to his home state to visit family. It was his time off where he went was no big deal to me

Its pretty easy to avoid the media storm IF you want to. If romo doesnt care he doesnt care.

But, we are talking about a reality 'ho who lives her life on TV. It comes with the territory. I dont think anyone cares about what Romo IS doing. The concern has been, as I read it, what people dont think he is doing. And Wad vouching for him isnt enough. Lets see the results ON the field.

No doubt all players in the end will be judged by what they do on the field. As for avoiding the media storm I disagree in this day and age of 24 hour news cycles and paparazzi with the camera in your face no matter where you go makes it difficult to avoid the spot light.

Romo is not going to change his life and hide in a cave because some think he should. Romo by all accounts works hard and you don't go from 4th string QB to a record setting QB like Romo did without putting in the work so there is no reason to think he is not putting it in and Wade only adds to that reality by his comments.
