The Dallas Cowboys training camp media contingency waited with anticipation for the conclusion of the afternoon practice, everyone waiting on Tony Romo to deliver his third "State of The Camp Address." Practice ended as planned and with members of the media poised with cameras, notepads and pens in the standby position, Romo sprinted off the field in the opposite direction.
Romo wasn't exactly attempting to escape from us but instead he was making his way to the locker room to watch the conclusion of the PGA Championship and his golfing buddy, Tiger Woods. After taking in the final three holes of golfing action (between 45 minutes to 1 hour) Romo appeared with his usual smiling face.
Romo says that after playing a Pro-Am round with Woods at the AT&T National Tournament in Washington, D.C. he now feels a connection and holds a special interest in Tiger's game. "He hasn't lost very often, but it's a part of sports."
Meanwhile, back to football - here at camp a major item of note was the wrist injury of Roy Williams during the morning practice session. The Cowboys decided to administer an MRI and all test proved negative. The team is calling the injury a sprained wrist. Romo commented that the injury is simply a part of training camp. He says that Williams has worked his butt off and if anything it will help him to return with fresh legs.
When asked by WFAA-TV Cowboys beat reporter Joe Trahan if he felt there had been an over riding theme to this camp, Romo commented "We need to continue to grow, continue to get better, push the envelope in a lot of areas." "Everyday is not going to be a great day but if you continue to grow and never give up and continue to go forward, you will get to where you want to be."
