What a great football weekend

LOL. The NFL is evolving based off rule changes and personnel. Coaches adapt and this is what you get.
Players are getting bigger and faster. The reason you may not see formations from 10-30 years ago is because they were phased out, cause they don't work successfully anymore. Coaches need to find ways to win, or they get canned.

For example, colleges aren't producing fullbacks like they were in the 90's. Gone are the Alstotts, Johnston's etc. Seems like a majority of colleges are going to the spread/shotgun. Which is why some teams are using shotgun more and more.

The only highlight for me this weekend was the Dolphins game, which I watched here and there.

Same here and like myself, we grew up in the age where defenses could be dominant. The rules have been slanted to favor the offenses and have really handicapped playing defense. Scoring and big plays are cheap these days.
Yep, and that saying they're cheap is a bit of an understatement, IMO.

Thanks, I remember wanting the rule changed on QB hits when I saw the same thing happen to Romo. The guy put his full weight on Tony just to injure him. No place in the NFL for that garbage.

That's stupid. Can we initiate a warning protocol on this fan of the year(unintentional)? I have gone thru this play countless times(Avril vs Romo) and Romo(who I adore and would die for- think about that sh**) should've had more awareness(which he usually did have[my apologies for all the bracketed nonsense]) and slid... or did that BAD azz spin move. Its ok cus romo was syuo the man, that a slip up here or there is/was ok cus he was caught between a time warp of rodgers and Brady.

Yeah. I don't know what is more of a joke. The NFL and what the game has morphed into nowadays with the penalties, officiating and rules or college football with the nonsensical playoff system it has.

I still watch my Tar Heels and Cowboys play but the passion that once burned from within for these games is almost gone.

The NFL's darling went down and showed his true colors in the process.

Living in Colorado, I'm hearing nothing but crickets. Lost to an 0-5 team at home. B-E-A-utiful.

Skins struggling with the Niners.

Only thing that would've made it perfect is if the refs didn't ripoff the Jets....................

I could've done without the Eagles and Steelers winning.

Agree on the pick plays.

I think the league needs to get radical and make rules against certain formations to prevent some of this stuff. I'd favor letting pick plays get called from a ref up high in the press box, and making those pays a loss of down penalty.

I'd like for this as well. Someone told the NFL that's becoming a passing league was more watchable.....I'm embarassed for them when I look at the guys who threw for 300 yards yesterday....that's insane. Fitzpatrick? McCown? Sheesh.

Probably like me...done with anything but the Cowboys. I have hardly watched any football outside of the Cowboys this year. Just not the fun it used to be.
Isn't that what it always has been? It takes a certain fan to watch other teams play...I always thought those fans were the minority....your team sucks is it out of it? It's always going to run off the casual fans or the fans who only like the home team.

Exactly. This site has been a regular visit of mine for over 10 years now. I'll always root for the Cowboys and visit the forum, but the days of me being NFL obsessed are over.

I don't understand....what were you doing before? Rooting for the rest of the league?

Nothing changes the fact that this team is going nowhere. If you have to root for other teams to go down to our level then that should tell you something.

Didn't watch a second of football all weekend. Loved it.

Will probably watch Dallas next week, but I'm done with the NFL as a whole and watching all the games all day like I used to. Can't stand the league.
My thoughts exactly. I'm a little angry about it because I've been a big fan for half a century, but I enjoy having Sunday to spend with family.

My team sucking has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I have stuck with them through the very early lean years and the 1-15 season and never missed a game unless I was at sea and couldn't watch. I am personally fed up with the NFL and what it has become. I know I'm likely in the minority. If you still get great pleasure from what the league as a whole has become, then I'm happy for you. It just doesn't appeal to me as much as it once did. For what it's worth, I haven't lost faith in what the Boys will do this year. I still think they will have a decent season.

You really should work on those step-mommy issues you have.........it's reflecting in your posts.

Showed his true colors? Do you mean when he was pissed off and yelled at Barr? Who wouldn't react that way knowing your season is over? I thought it was a late hit and definitely a cheap shot so I didn't see a problem with how he reacted.

Uhhhh....Romo for one. Didn't see Carr act like that last year when he got his ankle broken for him. Mariotta, Jameson. There's a long list.

He was pissed off because he's the biggest wuss in football. He got tackled. Know why? It's friggin FOOTBALL.

The NFL is truly pathetic these days.

It's like a bunch of pick-up street games every weekend. Every team is running the Southlake Carroll offense. Gimmicky nonsense, relying on no-huddle, shotgun draws, quick screens, dink and dunk, and bombs. All framed in a storm of flags, constant replay, and childish mistakes.

Where are those beautiful 15-yard timing routes of 20 years ago? Where is the power running game? Why are teams constantly in the spread on 3rd and 1? Where is the mano-a-mano football? Where's the damn kickoff return?

It's been reduced to Football for Dummies. And it's ugly and boring to watch.

Now get off my lawn! :oldcouple:

I agree, btw.

I wish I had a hundred likes. A Aikman to Irvin slant, a Emmitt Smith lead draw, a Staubach to Pearson post pattern, and a Tony Dorsett 84 yard run between the tackles................I miss football.

I guess my stance is....I never really got pleasure out or watching anyone play but the Cowboys....
