What a terrible feeling this Sunday

I was upset with the defensive performance, though the new Cowboys still made Detroit 1-dimensional by shutting down the run game. However, our LBs and secondary have struggled n coverage and tackling all year.

That said, the odds of Dallas making the playoffs, even with a win, were still long and not in their control. It was a bad on the road performance, and yet we were still 1 defensive stop from having a chance at the end. Unfortunately, the last defensive stop and Detroit punt came with 9 m8nutes left in the second quarter.

Even with our OTs playing very poorly, the Cowboys will be a formidable team next year if we bring the offense back and add a few competent pieces to the defense. The defense doesn’t need to find stars, just 1-2 competent LBs and DBs.

Your average Cowboy fan every season

He has had a better defense than Dak did by far. Not until the trading deadline did the Cowboys defense have a pulse.
Save your breath. These guys always think every failure is on the QB. They see Burrow and Mahomes and Jackson all possibly missing the playoffs. They see last year’s SB MVP playing like crap. But they still don’t get the concept of TEAM, winning in the trenches and having playmakers.

Never a good time when your team has to accept the inevitable. It appears the drought continues

2026! It's our year baby :flagwave:

I feel angry, aggravated dejected gaslit lied to taken for granted disrespected.

We all brought into this team after those two huge wins against the previous Super Bowl teams.

Only for Schottenheimer Prescott and the no-show defense to lay a gigantic egg on Thursday night football.

The ultra conservatism of Schottenheimer is unforgivable and I don’t consider him a rookie coach. He’s in his 50s. He’s a life longer in the NFL if you’re gonna beat Dan Campbell in Detroit, you’ve gotta put the screws to him early not kick 59 yard field goals.

The linebackers were atrocious. It looked like they quit or never got started. Wilson didn’t even play, and this all falls on our talent evaluator. Will McClay - a.k.a. the assistant to the GM..

And I’m gonna tell you something else we lost that game in the trenches we got beat up on the offensive line something fierce we got clubbed.
On the defensive side of the ball Detroit took out QWill and Kenny clerk was a no-show and Osa brought his usual stiff job.

Carl Pickens chose an awfully strange time to show the nation that Mike Tomlin wasn’t wrong.
Bizarre behavior

CD balled out - Prescott was good 1as the game went on but not special.

Revel was exposed he was abused - Murray Nate Thomas exposed - running back depth exposed- lack of speed on the offense exposed. Lack of speed in the linebacking core exposed.

All of the aforementioned fall directly on Will McClay.

22 years this guy has been in the organization. He is the modern day Larry Lacewell.

Really disgusting day
I was hoping to win the game and had chances. But we just played and beat the sb teams of last year back to back. Short week. If we didn’t play them until Sunday we may have had a better chance..

Understand the frustration, likely to be the 2nd year in a row they miss the playoffs after 3 straight post season let downs.

However, this team has been suspect most of the year and probably unrealistic they would suddenly pull off 7 straight wins. The playoffs seemed out of reach most of this season and though I was hoping they could rally, I was also approaching it with little expectations. Far more disappointed with the 22 and 23 seasons.

Yep, it's horrible, one of my former players and assistant coaches had emergency surgery this morning after a wreck yesterday that left him paralyzed from the waist down....5 hour surgery to decompress the spine....now we wait for 24 to 48 hours....terrible...ohh, you were talking about a game? Damn, some must live perfect lives if they let a game ruin their day. Good for you

Did you want him to go 5 and 0 well yes But maybe expectations were a little high

Don’t worry folks, before you know it we will be back at the NFL draft the old Cowboys PR machine will go into overdrive and sell most of you on the idea that this is the season it’s all going to turn around and all of our draft picks are somehow far superior to all the other picks drafted by other teams. Training camp will continue the hype through the season.

The truth is. The front office did an absolutely pathetically terrible job building a competitive roster this year, which has been evident the entire season.

The trade for Quinnen is good and can pay dividends for the future. He can be the keystone of the defense for the next 3-4 years.

But it was TOO LATE for this year. It just was. The games in September and October mattered. It’s one reason I kept getting agitated at Jerry and his dimwit son talking about the trade deadline and trade this and trade that. All the while the team was losing games. Like no. These games all matter. They don’t just start mattering after the trade deadline.

I've read this same book for the past 30 years. Were you really expecting the ending to be different this year based on those 2 wins?

Cowboys don’t even deserve this energy. They were 3-5-1. That was the time to be mad. Getting mad they didn’t win out was ridiculous in your part.

There are few on here who knew this team was no different at the beginning of the season than any other over many years. Stop buying the hype after a couple meaningless wins. Y’all drink JJ’s koolaid every year.

I’m not at all go back and reread - I’m furious that we didn’t build a defense going into the season.
You put 30 points up in Detroit you should win the game.

Did you want him to go 5 and 0 well yes But maybe expectations were a little high
Sooner or later, you have to do the impossible sooner or later, we have to be the team that does that because that’s what the Kansas City Chiefs have done. That’s what the New England Patriots have done that that’s what the Philadelphia Eagles have done..

We did what we were expected we were gonna do lose a big game on the road in a tough spot.

How damn refreshing it would’ve been to win that game 30-29 go home fired up.

does this mean jerry for GM of the year was a little pre mature?

Who's "we"?
I never bought the fools gold that this team is anything special.
After 30 years of mediocrity and failure in the playoffs, I am in the prove it category.
A large majority of this board we’re doing jumping jacks after we beat the Chiefs threads about shotty being a great coach etc etc
