What about DT Kevin Williams?

Why?? Too old, not good anymore and takes reps away from younger players who may end up being full time, long term solutions. Why not spend more time finding young talent so that we don't come back here next year singing the same song. I guess that each time someone is released or we think they will be free someone has to ask...but again why?

I think he's still good. I think he's better than some of the players this team currently has. I'd have no problem signing him and letting the oft-injured Ben Bass go.

Williams would be this team's second-best defensive tackle the minute he was signed. Given the lack of talent on this team, I don't see how they could turn down and established veteran.

And his signing would buy time for other replacements to be found for the future.

That's my thinking anyway.

Okay, like the thinking. However, here is my thinking. I want to win with youth and good coaching. I want to know that this year's winning is not just another 8-8 record. We had one of the best pass rushers this team or the league has seen in years. What did that get us? 8-8. I may be radical, but I wouldn't mind finding a way to let go of Romo after this year. If I am going to lose, let it be now when the team is obviously rebuilding regardless of whatever lies Jerry mean spin. Lord knows he wants to win, but he's insane just based upon his actions. He keeps doing the same things and yes...wait for it....expecting different results.

So, don't sign this old 34 year old that will not get you to the playoffs IMO...and guess what...cut Ben Bass as well. Churn the bottom and middle of the roster and let the starters know, you are only as good as the last win. Lose and no one should be safe. You want safety, go to church. Just my two cents.

That is my point. Jerry is an issue. He's not going away until he's no longer here or he decides he can't do the job. The best roster isn't necessary the team that will field a better than 8-8 record, it is a team that will field a good team for years to come. Just my opinion, but I would rather go 1-15 and then win some Superbowls a few year later. I don't think that has ever happened though. <sarcasm off>

That was my thinking. Not to dissuade the Cowboys from going D-line in the draft, but to give the team an established option and a much stronger rotation. Signing him wouldn't stop you from drafting Donald at all. But it might force a scrub player from the bottom of the roster.

The Cowboys have no scrub players. Jason has finally cleaned out the roster and everybody is a RKG.

He is still producing and yes the draft is where you build with youth FA only helps fill an area of need. Williams on a 1 year deal does not take away from picking up young players it only give Dallas the chance to fill a need without being forced to pick a certain position purely out of need. If we were talking a longer term deal I would be aginst it but if talking about a 1 year deal for an experianced vet who can walk in and help right away then you bet I will gladly take that. Some draft picks even if they have a future with the club will likely not be ready day one to take a starting role on an NFL team

I agree. I would love to grab Donald in the draft, but this team has more holes than one. Getting another DT gives us more flexibility. We still could target Donald if he's the guy we want, but could also go best player between DE, S, LB, or OG in round 1
