What About Quincy Butler?

I keep hearing that Quincy Butler is a tremendous athlete and that he was second only to Newman last year in man to man coverage .

I know that he only played on the practice squad, But if he was able to go against Glenn and T.O. on the practice squad and still draw rave reviews about his coverage skills maybe we have a diamond in the rough right under our noses.

Butler is a fringe PS player with some speed. He doesnt offer an iota of a solution. And as a PSer I dont think he got enough reps against the first team to be deemed 2nd best anything! LOL! I just kinda doubt all that for some reason.

He was getting rave reviews from the coaches in the mini-camps and OTAs...and many felt he'd push Glenn for that #3 spot and knock Reeves and/or Jones off the roster.

He's just been hurt all TC...hopefully he can live up to the hype from this spring.

I've had him ending up on the roster for a while. However, his injury may have almost ruined him.

Ultimately, he's still got a nice shot because the people in front of him haven't exactly established themselves. He's cheaper than some of his competitors. He can return punts. He's got good size and speed.

He's one of the guys who might need a good final preseason game, but I think he's got a solid chance.

That is what I read as well. Butler will get an ample oppertunity to show himself in this game with Minn. Hopefully he can take advantage of the situations.

You mean 2nd best, Newman is the best cover corner by far....

I'm not as much in the panic mode as some. I do think that Dallas will keep an eye on the final cuts made around the league and will pick someone up. In the meantime I think Glenn can hold down the job if Newman can't start the season. What I saw against Houston was not great by Glenn but the same can be said about a lot of players last week yet we are not pulling our hair out because of their play.

I think only Newman can tell if he can go or not so I would base any move of resting Newman on him and the training staff. As for Butler I'm looking forward to seeing him out there and hope he comes through after all if Newman does need to sit we need that 3rd CB coming in when facing 3 WR sets
