No matter what the outcome of todays game,whether we won or lost,we were in a no win situation, to wit:

If we play for the integrity of the game,as some "purists" would have us do,and play all our starters the whole game,and beat the Skins,they still get in due to the Minnesota loss. With the weather and field conditions the way they were,we could have very easily lost someone else to injury. Boy,that's what we would need,to lose more starting players (see Giants injuries);

If we rest everybody,and don't at least give the players who have a shot at something personal the opportunity to achieve a goal they may not have a chance to accomplish again,would brand Wade Phillips as uncaring,and shed a different light on his "family philosophy". He truly cares for his players,and giving them the opportunity to try for those goals,albeit unsuccessfully, reinforces the family feeling of the team;

If we play poorly, and have our tails handed to us, as happened,we are branded as 13-3 aberrations that will be one and done.

No matter what the outcome of todays game,we lose out!

You are right, there is nothing that could be done today to help the team The Commanders would have gotten in regardless of the result and then it would have been tough to beat them three times if they happened to advance past the wild card round. The Cowboys played listlessly today and it was a generic gameplan. Since they are were potential playoff opponent no matter what the result was today, it made no sense to show them anything they could use today.

I thought it was funny to hear Aikman and Buck talk about the defense playing all of the starters when Alan Ball and Oglesby saw a lot of playing time early on.

I could only shake my head when Moss would beat Ball and act like he just won a gold medal in the olympics. Buck and Aikman completely glossed over it like they were unaware of what was really going on out there.

Yes, Moss abused Reeves and Ball but was rarely on Henry. Got to give the Skins' credit for lining that up. But man, it isn't like Moss was dominating Newman or Bailey out there.
I just got frustrated at Aikman and just went to WOAI and listened to them through there.

don't forget, those people who would be mad if we didn't play our starters for fear they would "rust"
