Something about this Dallas culture it tends to ruin players. Players realize they only have to play hard to get paid. Once they are paid that's job security. Parsons hopefully doesn't have that in his DNA to ease up but it will eventually happen. Either due to injury or due to being the second LB to get QB money.

Regardless, after last year he'll get more attention.

Thats a given period. Now, if we can just find a couple guys other teams would have to at least pay attention to. who knows.

So unless someone agrees with you, you dismiss it? And your opinion is based on what?

    Fun thread.

T.O. blew up to be a "Look At Me!!" diva long before he joined the Cowboys (49ers, Eagles).

The "sophomore slump" happens to a lot of players as it did Prescott and Elliott but that did not happen to Martin. I can make a case that Zach Martin is the greatest Cowboys player in history because he came in making history, first OL to make All Pro since 1947. I cannot think of a better Cowboys player at their position.

Parsons has taken a step toward being that for the defensive side of the ball with some real heavy hitters ahead of him like Lilly, Jordan, Green, White and Ware.

Ware did not regress and I do not see Parsons doing that either because they have the same drive. I did not see Ware play in college at Troy because, well, I do not watch Troy. But I did see Parsons play LB at LBU and I didn't know who he was except he stood out on that field. He moved differently and by his soph season, I knew who he was and had never even heard of a player leading his team in tackles while not being a starter.

I wanted him with that pick and would have been happy for them to move up to get him, which is what would have had to happen if he'd not opted out his last season at PSU. He most likely would have been the first non QB off the board.

And I only wanted him for one reason, stop the bleeding in the run game. The pass rushing was a huge bonus. I saw him as a healthy Sean Lee, not a possible Lawrence Taylor or Derrick Thomas.

The one player I do not worry about is Micah Parsons because he isn't about being the best defensive player on the Cowboys, he's got his sights set on the NFL. He brought special ability into the game, now his skill set will begin to improve.

Not duplicating a season like he had is not regression
    It’s reality
    The same thing with Diggs
The chances of him getting that many picks this year are very slim

Opposing teams will have game tape and film study on Parsons now.
They will attempt counter scheme vs how Quinn likes to employ Parsons.

    - Maybe that means far more 2 TE alignments vs Parsons & Cowboys ?

    - With some cases, its' one thing to see what is coming at you, ..it's another thing to know how to stop what's coming at you.

    - Teams well are familiar with TJ Watts, Myles Garrett, Chandler Jones and Von Miller, ..yet have those opposing team still been able to stop those gem players ?

    - Biggest continuing key with Parsons, imo :
    1) Staying healthy
    2) Quinn knowing how to move him around/line up per mismatches
    3) Parson's supporting cast,

I'd say the chances are pretty high. He'd almost have to be defensive player of the year not to.

Yeh, probably not same number of INTs as in '21.,.. but i still think he'll have up to at least six INT picks .
Depends upon health, continuing coaching scheme and supporting cast., imo

its a fair question. I think eventually he will tire of the culture and want to move on

Or he could begin to have an effect on the culture from within.

I think he is starting to emerge as the leader. I know, I don't like all the talk in the media either but he has the same opportunity to set the culture, at least for the defense, as Aaron Donald has done for the Rams. It wasn't Ramsey or Miller that set that tone, it was all Donald.

Taylor and Thomas did the same for their defenses and while Parsons is still young, he has something extra about him. I can see him taking that leadership role as a soph very easily and I think Quinn would be jazzed for that to happen.

Only if the Cowboys use him incorrectly then yes he will regress, however, if they line him up at the LOS 50% or more of the time then he'll be defensive MVP and possibly a super bowl winner!

As a player he could be even better. Just like sacks don’t tell the whole story of a pass rusher, ints don’t tell the whole story if a CB. I think as the season went on he was better at knowing when to go for the int or the tackle. I think the yards given up will be better and I agree 6 sacks is probably realistic
But that wouldn’t mean he regressed as a player. As a complete player that would be growth

Parsons had one of the all-time great rookie seasons, so there is a significant chance he regresses, even if slightly.

Now does that mean he goes from:
    84 tackles, 20 TFLs, 13 sacks, 47 pressures, 3 FF, 3 PDs
    to
    86 tackles, 15 TFLs, 9 sacks, 49 pressures, 2 FF, 1 PD, 1 Int
    or
    40 tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 sacks, 10 pressures, 0 FF, 2 PDs
Now, I would not bet on stat line 3 unless he is dealing with injuries and then goes on the IR early in the season.

Then even if he "only" hits stat line 2, which would be a regression, that is STILL a great season. And with teams game planning for him in Game 1 knowing what he is capable of at the NFL level instead of trying to guess with little film on him, his production could very well "regress" this much.

But I also think it is just as likely that he will improve in most stats across the board.

The one stat I would expect to not jump up much higher or much lower is sacks. Teams will be VERY prepared to stop Parsons as a "traditional passrusher", so I believe that DQ lines up Parsons as a DE too much, it will hurt Parsons passrushing production. But if DQ can find a way to get Parsons one-on-one against offensive linemen by moving him around and rushing him from different spots, his passrushing production could improve.

In any case, I expect Parsons to have another Great Season in 2022.

    JMHO
