if or when Turner is hired as the next HC, and setting aside the debate on whether or not he should be our next HC, what are the chances of him bringing Singletary with him for the DC position?

I'm asking this in part because i'm not clear about the policy of the league in such situations and what Singletary's current position is in SF. Also, i would like to get the board's opinion about (if it was possible) what kind of philosopical change that would bring to the defense. Switch from 3-4 back to 4-3? if so, have the Boys overhauled thier defense so much in the last 3 yrs that switching back would take a long adjustment period? Or Can Singletary learn the 3-4 quickly enough to make a difference in the first two years?

Let me say up front that i'm not advocating such a move, just that the writing seems to be on the wall that Turner is the next HC. If so, i doubt Wade Philips will settle for a DC position in Dallas and I don't know of other coaches with the 3-4 experience who can/will be willing to become our DC.

almost nil. I doubt the Niners give permission for an interview. we're looking at either Todd Bowles at DC or rehiring Dave Campo.

It is kind of odd with Singeltary.

He is currently LB coach AND Assistant HC with the 49ers...so I don't know how it would work if we said we wanted to hire him as a DC and Assistant HC.

I don't know if that is an official upgrade or is viewed as a lateral move.

The Chances are zero.

He will have zero say in anything football related.

Coach jerry will have to make that move.

What a dissapointment, He is just setting Norv up to fail.

You think after Michael Westbrook and Daniel Snyder
then Randy Moss and Al Davis

that norv would just settle in as a coordinator and continue his success in SF.

INstead he is taking on the two headed monster Terrell Owens and Jerry Jones. Very dissapointing.

Well and some reports have said that while the Niners dont want to lose Norv, they're also still "scrounging around" for a DC too. Thus give them issues at both Coordinator slots if Norv walks.

Well if Singletary is DC material why dont *they* just make him one?
