What is Dak worth to this team? We are fixing to find out.
That’s right. And it’s not just about what he contributes on the field. It’s his capability to generate fan interest, fantasy fans, putting butts in the seats, turning on the TV and sell merchandise.

Jerry’s not all about winning or he’d get the hell out of the way but we expect players to take less.

What a load of crap this thread and thought is. Lol

Well Gregory, The players salary's have to fit into something called a Salary Cap. If a certain player gets a contract that exceeds his on the field worth it will or may cause other players not to be re-signed which makes some of us cranky.

When the Owners have to adhere to a Team Value Salary Cap then we can scrutinize that, but until that time tough luck
That’s on the ownership and front office not the players nor the fans.

We reserve the right to critic either direction.

We have an owner who’s not doing everything within his power to win or he’d hire a proven front office , staff and stop prancing everyone around like puppets for his celebrity football guy status.

But yet we have fans who expect our players to take a discount to help them sign more talent.

How about taking less if it means Jerry steps down , hires a GM , real HC and get the heck out of the way.

And lower ticket prices from the highest in the league. That’s something I could get behind in players taking a discount.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Dak obviously values the Cowboys brand, he grew up a Cowboys fan. I think it's silly to ask "what are the Cowboys worth to Dak." The far better question is, "what is Dak worth to the Cowboy?". We are fixing to find out.

I’ve been a Dak critic but ultimately this business decision is on our powers that be. Nobody’s holding a gun to their head.

If they don’t think they can continue surrounding Dak with enough supporting cast with a huge salary then we’ll have to live with those decisions.

Dak is playing well now and he deserves whatever he can get. Take a discount. R U Kidding me? Lol

Exactly.

I couldnt care less about the money Kawhi Leonard or Durant, or any other NBA player gets. Why? Because it doesnt really impact the team.

Dak's salary will impact the team.

Who’s taking less to be on the Cowboys?

The only position this applies to is the QB... why? Because the QB is the position that takes up an insane percentage of the teams total cap money. THAT is why it should be considered.

You VASTLY overestimate the importance of any single player in the NFL. Every player in teh league could die tomorrow and next year the NFL would start over again with players nobody has heard of, and ratings and attendance would miss a beat.

You make it like the Cowboys just started having a fan base and following once Dak showed up.

Now THAT is a load of crap.

That's nice and all but give Dak his money. He was the 77th highest paid QB last year. The ONE person in the NFL (save maybe R. Wilson) that should not take a penny less than market value (whatever that is) is one Dak Prescott.
Mahomes will surpass all of them..has to get past 3 years first.. his worth is what the FO is willing to pay.. noone is worth this ridiculous money they are getting..

break it down 34 mil is 2+mil agame.. you think a player is worth 2m for one hour of work playing a grown boys sports? not anyway you try to explain it..but IMO Dak isnt worth more then Brady and Brees but will get it and it for sure should be less then Mahomes and Wilson.. this is daks 2nd deal Wilson is on his 3rd and got this by earning it 2sbs one sb win close to the 2nd bad call coach! is playing up to the big deal..Dak has not got there tya therefore should have taken the 30 , play for 3 years on that and if after that hes made the jump like wilso has , then sure get some more..

The QB is the most important position and why it’s paid the most. Every team has to deal with it.

If we don’t believe we can continue surrounding Dak once we pay him then we shouldn’t pay him.

If we have a QB that’s so dependent on a supporting cast then we should move on.

If not , pay the man and we’ll do the best we can and hope he’s enough to carry us with lesser talent around him at some point.

Personally , it’s why I feel the future is now. While we have this type of supporting cast. It’s why most teams get ripped apart by the Cap once they win a championship. No reason we should be any different.

Of course they’re worth it or these billionaires wouldn’t be paying it. It’s sports entertainment at the highest level .

No one complaining about a musician getting a few million for one night or a 100 million a tour or an actor making a couple million per episode or 25 million a film.

Fans continue to get too caught up in just the game aspect. The NFL is Huge TV business .

I have no doubt Dak loves being a Cowboy and dreamed of being a Cowboy. He also wants the same long term security as any other player. I fully believe a deal will be worked out and Dak will be QB for a good while.

I hold the same importance to the players as the owners do.

You must not have been around for the Replacement Players during the last strike? Not having the star players did make a difference with ratings and attendance.

“ The games played by these replacement players were regarded with even less legitimacy – attendance plummeted to under 10,000 fans at many of the games in smaller markets and cities with strong union presence, including a low of 4,074 for the lone replacement game played in Philadelphia) — but nonetheless were counted as regular NFL games. Final television revenues were down by about 20%, a smaller drop than the networks had expected.“

He is worth more to the Cowboys than other teams. Dallas does not invest in quality backup QBs and they never bring in competition for starting QBs. This is not a recent trend. They did the same during the Romo and Aikman years. The times between Troy and Tony was full of subpar jags that had no business on the field under any circumstances. Many of us has said repeatedly that in QBs like the Patriots have done, would be smart and good for the team.

you must be kidding?
Those games werent watched because fans of NFL teams knew their heroes were sitting on the sidelines waiting to return... so of course they were not legitimized by fans. BUT, if all the current players disappeared tomorrow and were replaced by the best of what remained.... we wuldnt care.

Dont believe me? Just look at what happened in Jacksonville. Foles went down, Simeian in for less than a quarter, he goes down, and a guy that wasnt even on the roster 2 weeks before is now being cheered like crazy. Romo was here one day and gone the next, and Dallas didnt skip a beat. Luck was here one day and gone the next, Colts just keep on moving ahead.

Well since your implication is that all these other team are smart and invest in a back up qb... lets see what happens in Steelers and Saints world in the next few weeks.

What happened to GB when Rodgers went down? Nobody has a great back up qb, and some just luck out. You think the Jags new this kid they currently are starting was gonna be balling out like he is? If they did, they would have cut foles before the start of the season.
